We were determined to make our second day in DLPR more enjoyable – the plan was to do the park in the morning and then the studio in the afternoon. Thanks to our AP’s , no queuing for tickets so straight in at 10am. Certainly not as busy as Monday. First stop was Small World after collecting FP’s for Peter Pan . SW was very quiet thank god so we went around again – kids were impressed – weren’t they in one of the Shrek movies ?. Then did the Carousel followed by Peter Pan. A bit disappointing to be honest – very dark and hard to see a lot of the creations – but the boys didn’t mind. Then over to Frontierland to suss out BTM. Packed of course – long queues for fast pass and 50 min wait in main queue. No thanks. FP in the morning will do just fine. Went around to Pocahonta’s playground with nice lakeside seating and a view of BTM, the steamboat and the moving fisherman. This was a welcome retreat from the crowds. Somtimes you cant beat a good old fashioned playgorund ! Lunchtime at this stage so headed for the Studios and planned to eat in Rendex Vous des Stars.
Got delayed in the studio shops and got through the other end just as the parade was about to start. Food would have to wait as witnessed our first parade. Got a good spot just outside Rendex Vous des Stars on the kerb so had a great view. This was the lads’ first decent close up with characters and really enjoyed it. The roller skaters were the big hit along with Chicken Little and Buzz. Minnie was at the head of the parade and Mickey at then end. In between was Geppeto, Mary Poppins, Lion King and others. The only downside of course was that the queue in Rendex Vous des Stars was nearly out the door so we went further up to Backlot Express which was adequate for a sambo. Interesting array of props all over the place.
Had a quick look at Flying Carpets with the intention of picking up FP’s but I understand the studios are bothering with FP anymore as it’s not that busy. The main reason for going to the studios was Moteurs. Came out after lunch to a massive queue and I thought oh no not again. This was about 45 mins before the show started. So got into the queue but to be fair, once the gates opened we moved along very quickly. This show has a large audience capacity so don’t be put off by the queue. The audience are seated in a large football ground type covered stand which must hold a couple of thousand. So even if you arrive just before start time you should still get a seat. The show lasts 30 mins and we enjoyed it. The gun fire maybe a bit loud for younger children but the stunts were good. It was dragged out a bit by a lot of waffle in between but to be fair, it takes time to get all the props in place. Our main complaint was the cold !! Because of the roof we were in the shade and the cold wind was blowing right into our faces – brrrrrrrrr !!
Next stop was Anamagique which was entertaining – kids liked the show and the puppetry was good. Unfortunately Flying Carpets had a technical problem so we headed for the tram tour but there was a long queue so we decided to call it a day and head for the hotel. I have to say that the studios are a bit of a construction site at the moment. Loads of hoarding around the place making it a bit cramped for pedstrians. Didn’t dare mention to the kids about the Cars or Nemo rides currently under construction. But the obvious new facility will be the Tower of Terror. Looks huge so should be good.
We had dinner in Hippopotamus in the shopping centre in Val d’Europe which was fine. A varied menu with plenty of steaks – got busy though and service slowed. First time I ever saw salt and pepper having to be borrowed from table to table. The place was obviously full by the time we were leaving. Small play area for kids but nothing in it really except a tv and the usual ikea kids furniture. Day 2 at DLRP was productive and I was happy we could tick a few more items off the ‘must do’ list. The next day was a break from Disney with a day trip to Paris.
