Just returned and man am I depressed. But hey, I am only 54 days from my return so no complaints. I'll focus this on the rooms and save parks for another report/forum...

This was our first trip home. For this inaugural, I brought my Wife, Father and Mother, Brother and Sister-in-Law and there two kids; niece is 2 and nephew is 4. So we had a rather big variety of needs and age groups. We stayed at SSR the first night and BWV for the remaining 7.

My wife and I arrived early on Friday a day before everyone else and stayed at the POP. It was Friday of Jersey Week and the place was a zoo. I only mention this because the contrast between there and SSR was enourmous. SSR is a quiet and beautiful place. I was really impressed. The room was in perfect shape and even smelled new. This is certainly a place we will return to. The day we checked in, the manager of bell services told me that there were about twice as many checkouts on that Saturday as even a normal busy Saturday, so it was not a shock that our room was not available early. But it handled the crowd well, and the short stay deserves a very high rating. Since this is my home resort, I was very happy to have a good experience. It made us feel that becoming a member was the right move.

On Sunday we switched to the Boardwalk. This now ranks as the best resort on property to me. I have never seen a place that is perfect in everyway, that is until we stayed at BWV. Every aspect, from themes to rooms to just plain fun, is tp notch. What a great time. Everyone in the party, which combined has stayed at nearly every WDW resort, agreed this was the best place.

Bell services and the concierge deserve credit for a great job. When we were checking out, the bellhop was there in minutes and made our departure as easy as possible.

A neat thing was getting to see them setting up the holiday decorations. One night when coming home from DTD, the lobby was strewn with wreaths and other decorations laid out on the floor and about a dozen CM's trying to sort them all out. Also, work was being done on the gingerbread house complete with hidden mickeys. When we woke up hours later, it was nearly complete. I loved the standard gauge electric train that ran around the house. It included box cars that were aged to look used and had banners of things like Boardwalk Bakery, Spoodles, and the Flying Fish on them. I'd love to get that train for my collection.

The Big River is a place I would suggest for those looking for quick sitdown with good food and better than average beer.

Loved your report. I hope to see the decorations going up next year, especially that garland with the million ornaments and also the gingerbread display. We adore BWV. Did you have a BW view? If not, try one the next time. Just lovely. We have not tried SSR yet, but it sounds like a great resort also.
Isn't having the next trip already scheduled the BEST remedy for leaving-WDW-blues? :thumbsup2

It sounds like a wonderful trip!! BWV is our next DVC destination, soon, but not soon enough!

Until our October trip, I thought that we had BWV primarily for the SV points, but during that trip, we finally DID some things on the boardwalk. Dare I say it, I had my very first corndog, and I loved it!!! How silly is that??

That's why I own at BWV, love it there.

We were there from 11/11-11/18. It was great to see the gingerbread being built and all of the decorations up! If I can figure out how to post a pic, I'll attach one of the gingerbread house. I also have a great pic of the BCV carousel too.

The Boardwalk blows SSR out of the water.

true that, but don't make it seem like SSR is somehow bad. BW just happens to be the resorts best hotel...IMHO of course

I agree the gingerbread house is cool. So is your oldest's SW tee. My son would love it.
