This is it.....
For the most part, we had a good time but there were so many things that put a damper on our trip that it kind of ruined the whole experience
Our first day we went to the beach, and didn't start our Disney POP reservation till 10/2. We were given a room at the POP Century in the 80's, the 7 building, looking right out to the Walt Disney World entrance banner. We put our lime green rope light Mickey Head up in the window for fellow DISers to see
And we didn't get any towel animals all week
, but they did rearrange our stuffed animals once or twice. We left our tips in a Origami boat my son made, that we proudly labeled the SS Mousekeeping and sat on the sink each day as we left.
10/3-we started out going to MGM. We started out the day with a very grumpy ticket reader, who made a few comments when our cards wouldn't read right off the bat. Not the best way to start off our vacation, but we realized that he probably got tired of telling people how to put their fingers in the readers as well so we looked over it.
For the most part, the rides were GREAT! No long waits and we used the Passporters guide to plan our way around the park. The rain came in when we were sitting there for Lights, Motors, Action so it kind of cut it short.....but after that the rain was gone for the day
Our PS for lunch were at SciFi at 12:00. We checked in at around 11:55 and waited till 12:15 till I approached the podium again to ask about being seated, since people coming in after us were being seated left and right. We were told we'd be seated by 12:30, as they had our PS's at 12:15 and didn't go by when people arrived......not sure why they had us 15 minutes later than the original PS time? So we seated at 12:25 and had a GREAT meal
and a GREAT server (whom we left extra tip for) We also met up with quite a few people today that noticed our tie dye shirts and spoke to us
10/4- We started our day at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. It was raining pretty hard on our way there, we had PS's at 8am. We got there around 7:30 and checked in, got our pictures done and were seating at 7:45 or so. Great service, great meal and nice atmosphere. We then went to the Magic Kingdom for the day, with our poncho's
The rides were great, again going by the Passporters guide for the day. We ate at Cosmic Rays at 1, where the crowds were HUGE. We had PS at Goofy's Liberate Your Appetite at 5:30 and were seated promptly as we arrived around 5:15pm. The server was nice, the food was by far the closest to the way we eat at home, and was very very good. And today we finally found the phone in the General Store.....YAY, we missed this last year.
10/5-We planned Epcot today and had PS seating for LeCellier at 6pm so we just had a counter service brunch in The Land before riding a lot of the rides there. The strawberry shortcake was DELICIOUS!! The Soarin' ride was so neat.....we would have done it again but wait times of 40+ minutes and fastpasses for 2-3 hours away kept us from that. I really really enjoyed living with the land, but then I'm a plant buff so that was really my thing. We walked the world in the rain and tried lots of the great food. We got a note in our arrival package that you could use your snack credits for things around the world, so we tried to use a lot of our credits here. We checked in to LeCellier at 5:45 and were sat within 15 minutes. The server was nice but lacked in bringing out refills or promply bringing food items or dessert. The whiskey cake was GROSS on all accounts but the other desserts were pretty good. The steaks were okay, but nothing to write home about. The cheese appetizer platter was good, the pork entree was almost raw.....and the sweet potatoes were too spicy. Not our favorite meal by far.
10/6-This was one of the worst days we had. We started out with PS at Donald's Breakfastosaurus at 9:30. The line to be seated was long, we got there right at 9:30 and they were still seating 9:00 PS's. The waitress was rude, when my daughter complained about her warm milk the lady said they were all in a cooler and they were not set up for breakfast, they were just a fast food place. She brought her another one, but said that it would not be any cooler due to their set up. After eating, the characters came around and I have to say that the character leader was in a bad mood. She looked as though she'd swallowed a lemon, maybe one of those 9 pound ones from Epcot, and she acted like it killed her to take pictures for people. We had 9pm PS's at Whispering Canyon....yes I know LATE!!! We really wanted to try this place since everyone said it's so magical and fun. Well, we got sat in the very back of the restaurant and got the grumpiest waitress I've ever seen....she started off by telling us not to put bread on the plates as they were not the Grand Floridian. She told us our son would have to order off the adult menu, even though he wanted something off the kids. And all week we'd been allowed to let him eat off the kids if he wanted to. Our waitress rushed us through our whole meal, we never got any 'fun' things and missed out on what the front dining guest were getting to do
We got one refill, even though we needed another one. And our waitress ended our meal by suggesting a dessert which I said sounded great and then she brought something completely different, sat it on the table and walked away!!!! She asked my husband for his dining card so she could go ahead and run it and brought our ticket, had him sign and that was the last we'd seen of her. Very rude, and I really should have walked out at the bread comment.
We met up with a lot of grumpy people during our trip, from ride attendants that were hateful and pushy to other guest that would just walk in front of you or just about knock you over to get somewhere. We also of course met up with great servers and friendly magical cast members, who we acknowledged with a tip when appropriate or a friendly comment or gesture. All in all a nice vacation but the few people who were rude kind of ruined our whole experience. I really think that the Disney Magic is losing it's flare lately....not sure why but nevertheless it's not nearly as magical as it was a few years ago when we stayed on property.
The POP Century was wonderful, we swam in 2 of the pools and liked all the meals we ate there. The cast members there were wonderful and always so helpful. The bus lines were not too long, but we did have to stand a few times.....still not bad
