Trip Planning Questions

We are going to Orlando December 19-26. The 19th and 26th are travel days. We plan to go to SeaWorld one day. My DH and brother will go to Universal Studios one day and WDW 4 days. My parents, DD (who will be 1) and I will go to WDW 5 days. I'm trying to decide which days we should do what.

I was reading the "unofficial guide" and it seems to suggest going to Magic Kingdom 2 mornings if possible. I think we can do that, but is park hopping a lot of trouble? We will have a rental car.

Any suggestions for Christmas day? It is hard to plan because I'm not sure of the park hours, or any special programs that will be going on.

If anyone has any plan suggestions I would appreciate them.

Are you staying at Disney? If so your park hoppers have to be used on consecutive days. If not you are free to plan, I am sure people here will have good tips.

Going that particular week, I would HIGHLY recommend signing up with www.tourguidemike.com He puts together a "holiday survival guide" that can not be beat as far as helping you decide what parks you should visit when to avoid the crowds. The advice offered in guidebooks about least crowded parks for each day of the week may be great during most of the year but from about 12/19 through 1/3 or so, it goes out the window. We were there from 12/27 to 1/3 last year and his advice was a true lifesaver! We didn't wait for more than 15 minutes for anything. Well, we did wait 20 minutes once but that was going against his advice.

As far as park hopping, nope, it's not a lot of trouble at all. Having a car will help some too although you can get around with Disney transportation without too much hassle. Remember you only pay for parking once per day even if you change parks or leave to go back to your hotel for a mid day break.
