I'm planning on a 10-day to 14-day trip next summer, most likely in mid-July. We live in upstate NY and are towing a pop-up with our Mountaineer.
I would like to make frequent overnight stops as we make our way down and back the east coast, either on the coastline at oceanfront campgrounds, or at really nice rv resorts (as close to FW quality as we can reasonably expect). So, something like 2 or 3 nights on the way down, 3 to 4 nights in FT Wildeness and then 2 to 3 nights on our way back.
Tentatively, I would like to stop in Maryland, NC and maybe SC on the way down, and then SC and VA on the way back. I'm thinking about Assateague national park in MD; Newport News or VA Beach in VA; outer banks in NC; Huntington, Edisto or Hunter's Island in SC; and also maybe another FL stop or 2 (Topsail and Ft. DeSoto).
Does anyone have suggestions for a trip of this nature? Any really good campgrounds we should check out? (since we are planning to go in July, we are probably going to need places where we can run AC).
Thanks for your advice and suggestions.
