We are planning on going to Universal studios from October 21-25 of 2005 and I just realized that HHN will be going on at the same time! We will have a 3 year old at the time we go, and I was wondering if it would be appropraite enough to take him there? Are there really scarey things during the day, or only at night? Are the rides all decorated for scarey things? Should we stay away at night time?

Please do not plan on taking your 3yo with you. It's not an option. During the day you'll barely notice anything about the parks that will refer to HHN's esp nothing you would be concerned about with your child. Why don't you check into MNSSHP for your baby to go to one night i'm taking my 4yo triplets to that for the first time this year.

When you said I should not take my 3 year old with me, did you mean at all, or only at night? It sounds like from your post that it would be ok to take him during the day.

dont take the 3yo at night! during the day will be ok because they dont transform the parks for HHN until they close the parks ( about 5pm ) there is nothing scary during the day, but the HHN event is geared towards older teens and adults. it is very gory!

but mickeys not so scary halloween party *MNSSHP* is GREAT for little ones ( and even us big kids without kids like it! :) ) if you are staying onsite they offer babysitting. even tho the three yo cant go, you should deff not miss this event!

During the day there may be some decorations in POE, but that's about it. Nothing scary there. Your 3 y/o will be fine during the day.

The night is another story. Parents are advised NOT to bring children under 13 as it may be too intense for them. I've seen young children (7-10) at HHN and they had fun. Then again, some in that age group got scared to tears.

Good advice DM. I'm struggling whether to take DD10 on her 11th birthday in Oct. I'm glad that I didn't take her last year but I think she has grown up a lot in the last year. Besides she is asking all sorts of questions about this years set up like the houses and scare zones.
cokegal19- I have seen kids there in diapers and they really looked out of place and bewildered. At night alcohol plays a part in HHN as well.

I've been going to HHN since I was 11. It scared the living hell out of me the first year, but I've had no problem with it since. I'm so paranoid while in the houses that I'm hard to scare now. :hyper:

HHN are NOt for small children!!! That is why Universal does
not even offer a children's ticket price!!! A 3 year old would be
scarred for life!!!
The day should be absolutely fine.

We're going at the end of the month for my son's 12th birthday, and after some consideration, we decided that he would not be ready for HHN, so we bought tickets for MNSSHP on Oct. 31st. I don't think that I could handle HHN myself from what I've heard about it

I'm in the same situation for next October, except my kids will be 10 and 8. I think the best course of action (for us) would be to go to MNSSHP at the MK. We went in '02 and '03 and the kids loved it.

You will be just fine during the day. At night, there is no way I would take my DS 4 to HHN. It's fun for adults, but even we get scared to death!
