My family is planning a trip to WDW in February 2006. I know that the weather may be unpredictable but will the lines be short? Is this a good time to go? Any insight would be appreciated

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

The lines will be quite manageable. Any time you go while schools are in session will be less crowded than when schools are out.

Bob

We've been the last two years during the first week of February and it's wonderful. No lines to speak of at all and no need to Fastpass except for possibly the coasters, etc., but probably not even those. It can be quite chily in the evenings so dress in layers. We love going in February, but we're not interesting in swimming.

We went 3 years ago (during Mardi Gras). It was wonderful. I wore long pants but short sleeve shirts. Lines were very short except in MK (Fantasyland), but they were still manageable. We did use Fastpass on a few of the more popular rides. I think you'll have a great time!

We too are going to WDW in February...2/2-2/12. From what I could gather the average temp is 72, but the nights will be chilly. I'm hoping for short lines too. This is our DD's first trip - she will be turning 5 on 2/7, so she is very excited to be spending her B-Day with Mickey and his friends. Myself and DH - we haven't been to WDW since 1996, so we are pretty excited too! I are staying at CBR. What about you?? Also, I'm trying to scout out any discounts that may be offered during this value season. Any ideas?

KathyH, welcome to the DIS!

It's true that the average temperature for early Feb is in the low 70s, but that doesn't mean you will get weather like that. Winters in Orlando are very unpredictable. You could have days in the 80s with cool mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoon highs stuck in the 40s. Unfortunately you could have both of those scenarios in the ten days you are there, so you should pack everything you own!

Rumor has it that a discount code for this time period will probably be released next week (around Nov. 3rd). I am also going this same week and got a GREAT discount code through the random email PIN thing. If the general public discount is anything similar you should be happy.

Keep checking the DIS Code board, located in the Resorts forum here. They will have information about any and all discounts as soon as they hit!!!!

We should all have fun sweating and freezing together!

Thanks Bob! That's what I was afraid of - a wide range of temps. But I will take that any day to go off peak and lose some of the crowds. I always seem to overpack for vacations - this should be interesting!!

How did you get a discount?? I made my ressies through CRO (giving them my email address. do they randomly choose email addresses to send out discount codes to?)

Where are you staying??

We will be there 2/7 - 2/12!

We have been before closer to President's Day when it has been pretty crowded, so we are excited about going this week! Our county has off on Friday 2/10 and half days 2/8 & 2/9.

See you there!

The discount I got was one of the random emails with a personal "PIN". This is the first time I have ever got one (been in the Disney "system" for at least 3 years).

We are staying at All Star Movies. The hope on the Code Board (there is an entire thread on Jan/Feb codes) is that the public discount will be same or similar as the current PIN. I got 6 nights at Value with 7 day tix+park hopping+5 "plus" options (water parks, Disney quest, PI) for $1250 for 2A, 1J, 1C. This seems like a great deal! I priced a room and basic MYW tix only and this was cheaper than even that.

Others are guessing they will have the same deal, or will offer the free ticket upgrades (the hopping and plus options).

This deal was offered for Jan 1st -March 8, and could be changed to packages for 3-10 days and there were other hotels because I priced POR also.

Cross your fingers. I am pretty there will be a discount--just will be interesting to see what it is.

we are hopefully going in early February too- My son is getting a make a wish trip and his 5th birthday is on the 6th. We asked for that week to go so hopefully that is when we will get to go. We have never been before so we are all excited.

lovetoscrap - thanks for the info. I'll try to patiently wait for Nov. 3 discounts.

I'm a scrapbooker too!! I'm addicted to it. Already started collecting various stickers, paper and embellishments for our trip in Feb. Have you been scrappin' long?

Keep in mind that Nov 3 is just the expected date--Disney has it's own schedule for things! Sometimes I think they like to change things just to build the anticipation!!! :rotfl: So, while we hope for Nov. 3rd it could be anytime --earlier or later. (just don't want to be flamed if they don't announce on that date! :badpc: )

Actually say that I am a scrapbook collector, not a scrapbooker! I have been collecting for about 6 years, but don't get much time to work. I have only finished a few pages of my Disney trip from 3 years ago, and last year and next year's photos will just have to join the pile!

Make sure you check out Creative Memories. They have lots of great Disney stuff. You can also get a lot on ebay.
