We are planning a family reunion trip on my points & rented points - Reservations are adding up to some pretty serious money - Has anyone had any experience with getting travel insurance?

I got some once for a cruise but never for WDW. It is really up to each person. I really don't think they pay you enough to make up the loss of points. They may come through with airline ticket money but I am not sure. I do know someone who used theirs when they couldn't take a cruise and it paid for them. You might want to check into different companies. Be careful with previous sickness. I do know that there is a clause that says if anyone has been sick in the last few months it will not cover them or you if they get sick with the same thing. I asked about that.

I would do it for a cruise, in case a hurricane canceled the trip.:umbrella:

I don't think it would really be cost effective on DVC points. You may want to call Member Services and price it just to see.

I have bought the trip insurance that DVC sends with the confirmation. Luckily we have never needed it. It hasn't seemed very costly to me, especially when we have trips planned with lots of points and I don't to lose them if we need to cancel for an emergency. With me, it's been just for piece of mind (I have four children).
