Our trip is planned for the end of May through the first week of June. We are traveling with 2 adults and a 9 year old. We can purchase trip insurance for $77.50 per adult. Would you suggest getting insurance or not?

We have home/car insurance through AAA and always get trip insurance through them. It usually runs about $100 for our family of four for a week to two weeks. Check out who you have insurance through. They are most likely cheaper and ours includes trip cancellation, sickness, even medical bills (dental) while away.

If you want to add Disney's travel protection (which I think you mean at $77.50/adult), you have to add it to your package before you make your final payment. Once you've paid in full, it is too late to add it.

Yes! Which is why we’re trying to make a final decision.

We always get the insurance. You invest a lot on a Disney vacation - if the last minute snafu occurs and you have to cancel, it's a hefty sum to loose.

You might look at third party trip insurance as well. Sometimes the coverage and allowances are better than those offered by Disney at a better price. There are a couple big sites that compare plans; a google for trip insurance should bring them up (number one and two for me). They are pretty handy for comparing plans and prices.

I tend to use DAN (Divers Alert Network). They cater to scuba divers but I believe they offer travel insurance to all. It may be worth a look. https://www.diversalertnetwork.org/travel/ They also offer a yearly plan that my be attractive if there is more than one trip planned and their prices are usually pretty good.
