I called about purchasing trip insurance today, and it seems like it only really helps if you are actually flying to wdw.

I could be misunderstanding the guy but it didn't seem to cover much other than baggage loss, missed flights, etc.

Does that sound right from anyone who has used it?

I was thinking of getting just in case there was a freak blizzard or ice storm (unlikely in DC but just in case, I did out run a huge snow storm in 2003 and went straight to wdw and got there to find out the whole area was shut down) and we were unable to leave town on time causing us to loose days.

Also, I was thinking of getting just in case we got down there and got sick or something, since January is still flu season.

It should also cover non-refundable payments on your accommodations if you are held up or have to cancel as the result of a covered event. Also try www.insuremytrip.com.

Domestic insurance is rarely "worth" it on the long run because the non-refundable parts of the trip rarely are siginificant enough to justify insuring.

We also drive to WDW, but never buy trip insurance when going to the the parks. Only when we cruise do we purchase the trip insurance (simply for the medical coverage - - our health insurarce won't cover us if we are out of the country). :thumbsup2
