Best place to purchase it for DVC trip and how soon do I need to add it? Thanks so much!:)

The answer would depend on what you are looking to cover with the insurance. Since a DVC points reservation has no cash value, if you are looking to protect your points reservation in the event you need to cancel, the only option is the insurance through DVC.

I've done the insurance through DVC in the past. The only thing I dislike about it is that the insurance coverage dates apply to the point's use years and not the dates of the trip. If you have a trip that uses banked, current, and borrowed points, you need to have purchased the insurance for all three of those use years to be fully covered. If you plan to keep purchasing the coverage every year, it's probably not as big of a deal. But it really torqued me off when MS explained to me why I needed to buy two years worth of coverage for a trip.

I can see why that would be annoying. It's never made sense to me that the cost is not related to how many points you use, just on what UY's they come from. But I'm in the habit now of buying it every year when I pay my dues, so that it covers pre-existing conditions. :thumbsup2

P.S. Thanks for the DVC image files for the sig! Just did mine today.

Am I correct in understanding that Airfare is not covered? While it would stink to lose points, air will be a large portion of our trip, so I am guessing I need another policy for that. I am new at all of this, so any input/advice you have is grat. I used to use travelex/access america for my trips, but I guess at this point I need to do air and point insurance seperately.

TIA for your help!

Can anyone tell me where on the DVC website to buy the insurance? I can't find it anywhere!

I couldn't find it either. It may be on there but navigation on the DVC member site has always been convoluted, IMHO. I just called MS to buy the insurance. I was sent an email to confirm and it has the link to the policy also.

Oh, it's in a very logical place on the web site -- NOT!

Check under Vacation Planning -> How to Book. It's about 3/4 of the way down.

You are a lot smarter than I am. I clicked all over the place but gave up before I found it. Bravo to you!

Hey, when did the price go up? Wasn't it $79 last year?
