We have a trip planned for Dec 24-30 and right now only have DVC reserved, no tickets or flights yet. My DH doesn't know yet if he is going to be able to get all, some or none of the time off. I found RT flights for $577.00/per person from Seattle to MCO. It's probably the best we are going to get. For trip insurance purposes with the "cancel for any Reason" option, it says 'Requires purchase within 15 (or 21, depending on policy) days of Initial Trip Payment. For DVC, what is the Initial Trip Payment considered? When we made our reservation or what?

For DVC, trip insurance has to be purchased through the company they have on their website. Other insurance companies will not provide coverage for timeshare points.

You must but your insurance within 15 days of buying flights and your flights will be insured, they won't insure dvc points obviously but they should insure flights etc

Which airline? You may want to way the price of a flight change versus the price of the insurance.
