Alright - I admit that I want to make our room-only reservation now, 499 days out, for our trip next year
. Yes, I am one of those planners
but hey - we only go once every three years!
I think trip insurance is important, with aging relatives, increasing prices and a trip planned during hurricane season - I want to make sure any money spent before the trip can be recouped if we cannot go
.
The travel policies indicate that pre-exisitng condition clauses are waved if the plan is purchased within 15 days of initial trip payment. So does my one night room only deposit count as that first payment?
Also, when calculating the cost of the trip, I should only include non-refundable deposits such as the room deposit and money to change airline tickets to another date?
If I purchase tickets through a discounter, are the tickets good for the number of purchased days from the date of first use? If so, then I do not need to insure the cost of the tickets?
What happens if we need to adjust our dates? Is it difficult to change insurance coverage?
Just trying to get things right
Thanks for the help with all these questions! If any expert is willing to share their knowledge of insuring a trip 18 months away. I would appreciate your advice
