I am taking the three day cruise in May and now I am considering Trip Insurance. We are Driving, so there is no airfare. So my question is it worth it? Has anyone every used the Insuremytrip web site?

I would definitely buy the insurance for the amount of the cruise.

My story............. We were set to go to Florida in February and DS8 was diagnosed with pneumonia the day before we were to fly out. It cost me over $600 to rebook just the air tickets. I would have hated to lose the price of a cruise.

You don't have to take the cruise line insurance...many Dis'ers have used Insurmytrip.com and some, like me have used Access America which is the same insurance co that DCL uses. I booked directly with Access American online at their website and the price was $42 pp instead of $99 per person that DCL was charging.

We chose the Travel With Ease Comprehensive Plan

I think it is definately worth it...you just never know what could happen.

My take on trip insurance is that I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Fortunately, I've never needed it on any of my vacations, but I think that the peace of mind that it provides is worth it. As was posted above, you can almost always find a better deal on your own.

I would give it a big YES, 2 nights ago my 5yr. old DD was jumping around in the house lost her footing and came down on her elbow. She ended up sustaining a small fracture that will require a semi-hard cast for about 3 weeks , we are on the 5/10 western. If it was bad enough to require pins or screws, etc. I would have exercised my option and cancelled/rebooked as the trip is as much for my kids as it is for me. You just never know what may happen.

We always buy the insurance directly from Access America. My in-laws had to cancel their cruise at the last minute when my father in-law had a heart attack last year. So, I definately think it's worth getting.

I agree the POM is worth it. I purchased it tonight from Insuremytrip. Thanks for the advice.

If you are going to WDW after your cruise, do you insure the entire trip, or just the cruise portion? Would this be a separate policy? Mostly just to cover cancellation of rooms, since we are driving. Always let my travel agent do this before:confused:

On accessamerica do you buy a policy for the family or a seperate one for each person?

If I put down my deposit more than a month ago can cancel my DCL ins. and switch to AA ins?
When they ask for cost pp how do you figure this out? Do I just divide entire trip cost by 5? Thanks.

I used AA website and it asked me to list names and ages of each person in my family. When it came to total trip cost I added the cost of our airfare & cruise and divided it by 4 (the number of family going this time). For my DD19 two friends...I used a separate policy for each one of them because they asked for each individual's home address and phone number. I did not know how it would have worked if I put them under our policy so I got them each their own.

The website figures out how much it will cost per person based on the ages. Teens were $37 and hubby and I were $42.

Hi, I just went to the AA ins. site and got a quote under the "travel with ease comprehensive" ins. plan and the quote came up higher than Disney which is $77 pp. Did I not plug in the right plan? Any ideas? I was surprised by this. Thanks.

:( I must be doing something wrong! I just went on 3 different travel ins. sites and they all came up higher than DCL insurance of $375 for a party of 5 which equals out to $75 pp.

I did find the answer to my own question of can I switch ins. It seems you need to purchase trip ins in the first 14 days of putting down 1st payment towards trip. I am now wondering for the next cruise I am sure to be booking before we leave the ship!!Hee hee:earsgirl:

It all depends on the cost per person of the cruise, the length of trip, and your age....it is possible with all those variables that the cost is higher than DCL.

Our per person trip totals are just under $1000 and I am between 31 and 60 so my insurance is $42 pp and the teens are $37.

At this moment, from a peace of mind standpoint, I am VERY glad we took the trip insurance out right from the beginning.

We are still 75 days from our cruise but over the weekend my mom took a very bad fall putting her in a halo brace for a minimum of 3 months. Right now I'm still planning to go, don't see that this would stop us, particularly if she makes good progress. BUT...the state of her health is (has been) fragile for several years and anything could happen.

If I'd decided to wait until closer to the cruise I might not have been able to get it because of this. Of course we hope Mom does well, not to sound callous or uncaring, but this could be a very long recovery and if she is doing ok we will go.

Has anyone used Travelex as their insurance company? I didn't have any insurance on our last two cruises, (both 4 nights), but I've decided that I want it on our June 7 night cruise. I got quotes from insuremytrip.com and the funny thing is that the quote from travelex came up hundreds of dollars more on their site than on the travelex site directly. According to the travelex site, they insure your kids that are traveling with you for free. Anyone have any experience with this company?
