I know a lot of people on here have traveled internationally for cruises or other travel, and I was wondering what trip insurance companies have you had a good experience using for international travel?

We use a couple of the travel insurance comparison sites (google that)to get insurance for our trips.

You put in the parameters of what you want covered, and they ask some questions (when was your first payment, traveler's ages, destination) and then show you many different policies from various companies to compare side by side. After comparing we go with the one that fits our needs the best.

All that to say, whichever company gives us the best coverage for the price is the one we use.

Although, we've never had to file a claim with any of them. But it's peace of mind.

We plan to buy ours through USAA, haven't used them for travel yet but they are phenomenal for our auto and home insurances.

For our last cruise and for our upcoming cruise we have a cruise-specific policy. It covers additional cruise-only types of scenarios like missed ports, mechanical breakdown of the ship, refunds for pre-paid excursion cancellations etc. We haven't had to use it, but I like having some of the cruise-specific options.

I use the web site for Insure My Trip -- and then you can compare up to 4 policies side by side. Depends on what you're looking for, but the site also gives you the reviews and rankings of each company so that also helps.
