Trip Insurance for DVRRental Store booking?

I've searched but cannot find the info....I've booked a rental through DVC Rentals and am trying to find out how to go about purchasing trip insurance. Their policy is a "credit" in an amount depending on dates booked and cancellation date. There is no monetary refund. Does anyone have experience with this? TIA

I don’t believe you can get trip insurance because it’s a timeshare booking and most insurances do not cover timeshare bookings even for owners.

During Covid, I remember reading that someone was reimbursed by their regular travel insurance for the nonrefundable cost of their DVC rental. They submitted their contract or invoice showing how much they had paid (in dollars) and documentation from the rental source stating the amount that was nonrefundable. IOW regular travel insurance worked for someone renting a DVC stay from an owner because the insurance treated it like a nonrefundable hotel charge. It wasn’t like a DVC owner who wants to be reimbursed for the number of points they forfeited if they had to cancel last minute.

I believe there is an option for refund on dvcrs, but you have to pay more
