Can someone explain to me how it would work with a vacation booked on points? Is the cost per person? It's late and MS is closed but I was curious of anyone on here has purchased insurance for a vacation booked on points.

My father in law plans to come with us in November but we have had some unfortunate news and it's best to have all our bases covered.

Thanks in advanced.

I don't know a lot about it since I've never purchased it, but what I do know is that they reimburse you the number of points multiplied by $5.00. The plan cost is the reimbursement amount multiplied by 5.15%. We don't get it since we wouldn't get our points back. I'd rather have my points in holding than to lose them and get $5/pt. for them. The only time I might consider it is if I was traveling in the last 4 months of my UY.

Be sure you look at things carefully, as many times, preexisting conditions are not covered.

So, if someone is suffering from an illness already when you take out the insurance, many companies won't cover your loss if something happens related to this.

As PP mentioned, what you get is a dollar value of your points, something like $5.00/ppt.

I guess if we have to cancel our points would just go into holding which is fine since I am sure we'd go within our use year.

It doesn't sound like trip insurance is a good deal for DVC owners. As far as the airlines, we would just have a credit.
