trip ins question ??

She does not need to go to the DCL forum here, or to Cruise Critic.

Why in the world would you say that? It seems like that those would be the obvious places to ask. She's asking specifically about the cruise travel insurance and there's a very good chance that someone on either of those boards has personal knowledge and experience that would help. People are referred to (and whole threads are moved to) other boards all of the time because they are more appropriate for that other board.

Nothing against this Community Board, but I have to agree. I found lots of great info at those spots when we went on our one and only cruise years ago. :goodvibes

OP--I'd maybe cross post this on the Cruise Board, or even venture over to Cruise Critic. There are a LOT of repeat cruisers on both sites, and they may have better info for you.

I kind of thought it was a good idea, glad to see I was not TOTALLY out in left field. :)

Cancel For Any Reason Credit Feature Provided by Disney Cruise Line

In the event you choose to cancel for a non-insured reason
at any time up until departure and you have purchased the Disney Cruise Line Vacation Protection Plan, you will receive a Disney Cruise Line cruise credit equal to 75% of the paid non-refundable cancellation fees imposed for your use toward a future cruise. This program enhancement is offered by Disney Cruise Line as a special service to our valued guests. Certain restrictions on the use of these cruise credits such as blockout periods may apply. Credits are valid for one year from issue date, are not transferrable, and have no cash value. To be eligible for credits, notification of cancellation must be given to Disney Cruise Line prior to the ship’s departure. Credits are issued in the event your cancellation claim is denied. To file a cancellation claim, please refer to the Claims Procedure section on page 13.

When did you pay your initial trip deposit? Often times you have to buy your trip insurance within a certain timeframe of paying your initial deposit. I just did a quick search and it looks like there are a few policies with cancel-for-any-reason clauses that will allow you to buy it several weeks after your initial deposit was paid. (Longest I found was 30 days.) Are you still within the timeframe that you could purchase an additional insurance policy that would cover work-related cancelations?

The last time I had a question about some insurance I had purchased, I called the company that sold me the policy. I guess my advice would be to start there, as obvious as that advice may be.

Exactly... Just what I have been saying.
Nobody on any of the forums here know what the weather might be, what her employers policies might be, etc... The one and only thing to do is to look into her insurance.

OP: I am glad to see that you are still here.
Do you have your policy, with the insurance carrier and a 1-800-number?
I am not an expert, but, again, it is usually possible to upgrade your policy. Even after booking. And, since you already have the insurance, this would be far cheaper than booking a whole new policy on your own.

I know you don't want to have to cancel and get your money back.
But, if you want peace of mind, and the possibility of re-booking at a later date, this is what I would look into.

PS: Just for the information, I believe the place that I went to, that shows several different insurance carriers and let's you compare policies and premiums, is insure my trip.
