We will be in Disney in mid January. Is it even worth trying to pack shorts/swimsuits or do we need mostly pants/capris?? Looking forward to my trip, but not sure about the weather!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. :earsgirl:

Pants and sweaters is what you will want to bring. There is no chance of going swimming and shorts are not the best idea in January (lived in north/central florida for close to 15 years)

Should be chilly days and freezing nights.

Coming from LI, NY....been there in January....I would pack a little bit of "summer" clothes, including bathing suits...it may be too cold for those who live in Florida to go swimming or wear shorts.....but to those of us who live up north.,....70 -75 is swim time....pack it, if you don't use it no problem, if you don't pack it and need it....are you going home to get it????

We are going down from Wisconsin where it will probably be below 0 degrees. So yes, in mid January 70-75 will be warmer than enough for us to swim and wear shorts!! Thanks for the advice.

We have gone throughout January since 1999 and mostly wear shorts. The odd time we wear pants but not often. Had to wear them last year as it was freezing one day. Swimming is always on the agenda. We are Canadian so similar to Wisconsin.

I have to laugh when we are swimming in the pool and the Disney lifeguards are wearing winter jackets and toques! :cold:

there could be days that are in the 70's and there could be days that the high might not get out of the 50's with lows in the low 30's, so pack for both.

I agree - we've been many times in January, and anything can happen. Go prepared for both warm and very cold weather.

Ditto to everyone above. We swam three out of the six days were were there the second week in January...but who cares your lines will be next to nill!!! Enjoy! What a great time to go!

We're also regular January visitors to WDW. We're visiting mid-January 2006 as well. We bring long pants, shorts and bathing suits, because sometimes its 40° and sometimes is 70°. Remember that the pools are heated.

Anything is better than the bitter cold we have been getting here....I'd rather be freezing my butt in WDW than here.

I will pack a bit of both, but I sure hope and pray for a little warmth.

I was just saying that to DW on the drive into work. Can't wait for January and our trip, sure beats the 6 - 10 inches of snow were suppose to get today. We've gone every January since 2001 and we bring a little bit of everything. Being from Maine 70's is very nice to us in January. We'll be there from January 12th - 23rd, hope to see you there.

I'll bring a pair of shorts and bathing suit for each of us. At least they don't take a lot of packing space!

Kids have their first snow day today! Remember how excited you were as a kid to have a snow day?

I know this is unusual, but last Jan. it hit temps of high 70s and low 80s while we were there. Yep, we swam! I'm going this Jan too and am planning on packing... mostly pants and capris as i just plain hate shorts, t shirts, bathing suit, and some extra warm stuff for night. Sweatshirts and stuff. I'll probably have my winter coat and such from the plane. Hope this helps!

Last January it was 75-85 the whole week we were there, so you never know. We're going back the same week in 2006 and are hoping for a repeat. I don't think we put pants or sweaters on once. I'll just keep an eye on the 10 day forecast.

I'm going in January, I'm packing my suit, I'm swimming!!!!!

Having lived my whole life in Cleveland, a LOW somewhere in the 30s isn't any kind of big deal. But to reach 50, 60, 70, or even 80 degrees in January -- Woo Hoo!
