Hey folks,

Planning a trip to dsineyland for september 2009 or march/april/may 2010...

I have been doing alot of research and trying to figure out my best route...

Anyone here ever use the kids fly free program? And will it make it affordable to fly from victoria? Flying from seattle is an option(much cheaper but the agent told me kids fly free is not available from there, not sure I believe her)

Are there any deals like the kids fly free for sept? And any chance of getting an affordable rate at one of the disney hotels?

For our spring break trip, we found it much cheaper to fly from Seattle and book everything separately. It would have cost us around $1600 using the kids fly free promotion from YVR to LAX (those taxes are brutal!). By flying from Seattle, our entire trip cost us so much less.

Here was a breakdown of our costs:

Return flight for 4 (DH, me, DD13, DD10) Alaska Air SEA to LGB -- $456 USD (yes, total for all 4 of us)
Secured valet parking at Master Park Garage at Seatac -- $12.95 USD per day (used online coupon)
6 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Garden Grove, includes parking & breakfast -- $95 USD per night
Enterprise rental car (minivan) -- $307 USD
2 3-day Disney hopper tickets -- free using Airmiles
1 3-day Disney hopper ticket from BCAA (gives us free parking at Disney lot) -- $188 CDN
1 3-day Disney hopper ticket from Flight Centre -- $176 CDN

Flight Centre has the best price for 3-day hoppers given the current exchange rate. BCAA 3-day hoppers charge you at the current exchange rate, hence it's a bit more expensive -- but worth it for you to buy at least 1 ticket from there if you plan to park a rental car in the Disney parking structure as it offers you free parking (a $12 USD daily savings).

Hope all this helps with your trip planning. :)

How old are your children that they can fly free?

With AlaskaAir, I think it's 11 years of age.

However, the kids fly free is not completely without some $$$. There are taxes to be paid on the kids.

Check Alaska Airlines. The last time I looked into it - it wasn't worth it as they hiked the adult fare price. Haven't looked for awhile as my kids don't qualify anymore (12/14). Don't get sucked into the kids stay free bit as they stay free anyways. If you need help going from Victoria - PM me - done it many times.

We flew from Victoria last Feb to Disneyland connecting through Seattle with Alaska and took advantage of the "Kids fly free". Helped offset the cost of staying on property at DL Hotel. We flew into John Wayne Airport Orange County which was so much closer/cleaner/easier then LAX (worth a few extra dollars).
