Hi fellow Canadians,

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on who to use to get travel insurance? This would be for trips to WDW and also for another trip with a cruise. I don't yet have any and am thinking it is something I should consider. Not sure where to even start! I know the US residents have some options but not sure what is best for Canadians. If applicable, I am in Ontario.

I went through Marlin Travel for my upcoming WDW trip in late Jan 2012. Although it may seem expensive compared to some plans, it is very extensive and at $250.00 for both of us (combined) we are well covered. I have gone on trips without it but imo for a Disney vaca. there are so many other costs I decided to try and cover ourselves just in case.

Hope this helps, I can try to find the actual company name if you would like. :)

Since we love to travel and were paying crazy prices on "per trip" travel insurance we started to shop around. We found the our Bank of Montreal Mastercard had a Travel insurance option that was fantastic.
we both have Medical coverage through our jobs so we don't purchase that. We have a yearly policy ..that covers everything besides medical ie : trip cancellation, inturuption , loss luggage etc... we pay $69 a year (I think) for our family. That covers unlimited trips up for 31 days in length. the only stipulation is that you have to book your trip using your mastercard. Here's what on the Web about it...it renews automatically each year! Can't beat the price of it!

I have used RBC, I have gotten it through a TA and set it up myself.

The time I set it up myself I had to make some date adjustments and it was very easy.

I also had to make claims both trips, they were very friendly and easy to deal with. We even called the 1-800 number when we were in Orlando, to let them know we needed a doctor.

I always use Royal Bank for my travel insurance, it's easy for me to use and I've been in situations where I've had to cancel all or part of a trip for medical reasons and they've been very easy to deal with.

I used RBC Insurance as well for all my cruises. I usually rely on credit card insurance and cancellation policies for wdw trips but with a cruise if you missed the boat or something it would be an issue.

Even had a small claim once, where my wife missed one day, and it was a very good expereince.
