I am a recent lurker seeking advice for an upcoming friends trip! We are going march 2-3 to magical kingdom and universal.

My first question is which day should we do magical kingdom and which day should we do universal? Magical kingdom seems to have EMH on march 2, and universal seems to have extra hours on march 3. Is this a hint that they’ll be extra busy those days?

My second question is which park in universal should we do? There’s a mixture of HP fans and non fans. My group has stated they only want to do 1 Park with no express pass and no park hopper.(bummer I know!!) I have been to US at least once since the HP section has been added, and IOA twice since that HP section has been added. I think that I personally am leaning towards US over IOA but am interested in hearing others opinions!

Universal will have a Mardi Gras concert on March 3rd featuring the band 311. That will definitely mean a higher crowd in that park on that day. And if you aren't staying on site for Disney, the EMH is something to avoid due to higher crowds of onsite guests. My guess would be to do Universal on March 2nd and Magic Kingdom on March 3rd unless you can take advantage of EMH. As it currently stands, you'd probably want to do Universal over Islands if you are a Potter fan since Islands has construction ongoing in Hogsmeade with Dragon Challenge being removed and replaced. Just one less attraction there. Universal will also have the Mardi Gras parade on March 2nd and third and all the Mardi Gras celebration stuff out, so it's something fun to catch.

Hope this information helps!

I think it really depends on:
- your interests (Marvel, Jurassic Park- IOA; Transformers, Simpsons - US)
- what type of ride you like (water rides - IOA; thrill - US- by a hair)
- is there anything new since your last visit (Kong - IOA; Jimmy Fallon, Fast and Furious [potentially] - US)

I think I would sit down with the Potter fans and have them look at the map of the Two Potter Parks and let them choose which park they would like if visiting Potter park is the highlight.

They will need to understand as you know that riding the Hogwarts Express is off the table without the park to park ticket.

Having been many times my vote would be for Universal. DIAGON ALLEY is something to behold. My favorite ride is Escape from Gringotts. Love all the shops there and the the dark Knockturn Alley. I never tire of it for sure.

The Mardi Gras parade at Universal would be fun.

Be there at rope drop to maximize your experience.

It would be so nice if you were staying onsite at PBH, RPR or SF even for one night as you would have Unlimited Express for day you check inn and day you check out.

I'm not sure what the temps are like in early March. Would water rides be off the table? Regardless, for me, since The Mummy is in USO, that's where I'd go.

Just depends we can be in the upper 60’s to mid 70’s to low 80’s depending on weather systems that are moving thru the area. Best to check 10 day weather outlook. Those can be a bit give or take too.
