We booked 3 nights in a 1BR at OKW a few months back (then switched to SSR). We were told that our DDs' softball team was going to play in a tourney down in Orlando over Halloween weekend and knowing that's F&W and MNSSHP, which is a busy DVC time, I booked it as soon as we heard about the tourney.

About a month ago, I booked airfare on Jetblue when I saw good prices. The softball tourney is Fri, Sat and Sun so I booked a late flight on Thur so that my DDs (11 graders) miss the least days of school possible. I also Booked the latest flight coming home on Sun. Then my DDs kept asking if there was any way they could do MNSSHP one night during the trip as they had heard all about that party from their cousin (and DH and I went 2 years ago). Halloween night was sold out but they had tickets for Thur night. They begged to go but that meant that we'd have to fly in earlier on Thur (and they'd likely miss 2 days of school). I called Jetblue because the flights were non refundable and the cheapest way to switch flights was to book the earliest flight that Thur and pay $64 for each of us (3). I did the switch and then bought the $69 party tickets (3). This was all around 8/20.

This past weekend we found out that we're not doing the softball tourney in Orlando. The team now has to vote on a Nov tourney in Myrtle Beach or a Jan tourney in Ft Lauderdale. My DDs voted for Myrtle Beach and we will find out on Friday which won out. If we do that one we can drive there but it is also Fri, Sat and Sun so my DDs will miss a day of school. Being junior year and all the AP classes they are taking I am reluctant to have them miss 3 days of school in the first semester. If our team picks the Jan tourney in Ft Lauderdale then we'll have to buy airfare (where I could pay a fee to switch my Oct Orlando flights to there...I think I can...flights to Ft Laud are cheap right now). But then I will have to also eat the $69X3 MNSSHP tickets (or try to resell them but I already linked them to us on MDE...could also try to beg for a refund from Disney). I'd also have to cancel DVC and I borrowed points as well as bought some OTU points. I could rebook for January (end of Jan my DDs have off school for 2 days, could book then but would lose the MNSSHP tickets and would have to buy park tickets).

so my options are:
1- if we play in Ft Lauderdale- cancel WDW trip to use flights for Ft Lauderdale trip
1B- if we play in Ft Lauderdale- keep WDW trip and book second flight to Ft Lauderdale plus add 2 day park tickets for WDW trip since we'd need something to do now
2- try and switch my 2 DDs out for someone else like my mom or MIL or SIL (will Jetblue let me switch names?)
3- if we play in Myrtle Beach- reschedule WDW trip to Jan (switch flights for fee and switch DVC booking...try to get money back on MNSSHP tix) **there is DVC availability in Jan when I'd rebook for
3B- if we play in Myrtle Beach- keep WDW trip and suck up DDs missing 3 total days this semester (they have 4 classes A day and 4 classes B day so they will only miss 2 days of 4/8 classes)

Thought? Thanks in advance! And if anyone is familiar with Jetblue policies and know if any of these ideas won't work, please let me know.

***Also...DH is driving from NC to meet us at WDW late Thur night. He is not going to MNSSHP but he does still have an AP that he can use for Fri and Sat (DDs and I have expired APs). If I swap my DDs out for, say, my MIL and SIL then DH won't go (he's fine with that). If we switch to WDW in January, his AP will be expired by then.

If your girls are in AP classes then I'm going to assume they are strong students. Missing one day of each of their classes should be fine. I would ask their opinion, but would lean towards going to WDW and enjoying the Halloween party. You only have two short years left with your girls. Make some memories and have some fun.

I'm a high school teacher and I agree with the previous poster. I have a 1 year old and am learning that sometimes one has to do what is best for family and not worry about the job all the time. If the girls can handle missing a day, then I say go to WDW.

They are good students. Very much on top of things and self sufficient. And it's the last day of the marking period so probably not much going on. I just don't want to irk any teachers.

Take your kids to the halloween party. Everyone needs to get to go at least once :) Especially if they want to go and can handle the missed work!

As the parent of a 19 year old college student and a high school sophmore, I will say that you blink your eyes and they are grown. Spend every minute with them that you can. Before you know it, they will be moved out and gone away to college. Treasure your last years with them to the fullest.
