I am planning a trip for me and my sweetie to celebrate our anniversary in September 2009. I know it’s WAY early, but I tend to obsess. I want it to be perfect; as it will serve as our overdue “honeymoon”. Although I have been to WDW many times, he has never been. {I had heard of these people, but I thought they were all legend—like the tooth fairy!} He seems rather excited to go—not nearly as much as I am to be going back, but he doesn’t know what he’s missing.

Earlier this week, we tossed about the idea of taking a short 4-day excursion early this summer. (Maybe for GayDayS?) I know that 4 days isn't enough to experience the magic, but I want to go back so much it hurts! I’m not sure if we should go though. Should we go this summer for a short stay? I am afraid it might be kind of a spoiler to the magnificent trip we have planned for next year. Or is a preview appropriate to whet his appetite, and thereby appreciating it all that much more?

Throw caution to the wind and come down for Gay Days! :cool1:

I would GO!!! anytime you can get away to disney short or long stay, is good to me! go and have fun! then he will be obsessing too for the next trip!!:cool1:

I heartily agree! There's NOTHING in the world like Gay Days at Disney World!

Of course, I'm biased. I met my sweetie the first time I did Gay Days. ;)

I disagree with the masses. I took my bf over Christmas for 10 days this year and it was his first trip. I was tempted several times to go down throughout the year but I resisted and was VERY glad I did. Take that money and extend your planned vacation and GO ALL OUT in showing him the magic of Disney. We did a fireworks cruise and dinner at Victoria and Albert's for our 2 year anniversary. That was after I gave him a ring in front of the partner's statue.

For a first timer, I honestly think the best thing to do is have a longer trip so you feel relaxed. After all, it's a vacation!

i think that a short trip would be a teaser for what is coming. This way he can get the initial "being overwhelmed" by the Disney "machine" out of the way and truely enjoy the big trip. Of course you would have to keep some things secret...but that would be fun for you i would think.

Which ever way you decide will be the best for you both...good luck and enjoy!

I vote with the "yay"s on this one. WDW is so overwhelming that can intimidate (I know it did me on my first visit a kabillion years ago). A short teaser trip (with limited scope) would be great to whet the appetite for bigger and better things to come. And what better time to do it, than during Gay Days? :goodvibes

When Corey and I first went to WDW together, it was almost 7 years ago. I had not been in over a decade at that point. We went for a quick weekend trip. We stayed offsite for $27 a night with a king room and a fridge on I-Drive....man, I miss those days. We shopped in Orlando, went to DTD, played at PI & City Walk, saw a Braves game at Cracker Jack Field, and went to MGM. It was the most perfect experience. It totally hooked me on Disney as the vacation destination of choice. In 2002, we went back in September for just over a week. That was and still is my favorite vacation with Corey. It was just wonderful and filled with so much magic.

Sometimes, those little teaser trips are a good thing! :goodvibes

thanks....he's having second thoughts...he's worried its gonna ruin the magic of our trip next year. i want to convince him to go, but he is almost as stubborn as me!

Can you ruin the magic of Disney?

A short 4 day trip during gay days my be just the thing to wet his appetite, so he can get involved in the planning of your longer trip.

It will give him ideas of where he will want to eat, what he will want to do, where he will want to stay, etc......

Kind of like a real life "Guide to Disney World".
