Jeff, I want to be sure Trina knows she should visit her local Hallmark store this weekend for some collectible ornaments!

Ok Judith that was totally uncalled for. Besides, our schedule is packed for this weekend. At 6 AM we are driving 60 miles to find a K-Mart because they are having a Hot Wheels Collectors event. We then have to drive 50 miles back to be at a soccer game for Dakota. Then we have to drive 20 miles to a Cross Country invitational to watch Tiffany run in circles. Then we need to drive 45 miles to look at some land we are considering buying so we don't have to drive so much. Finally we have to drive 30 miles to attend a school dinner for Whitney who is on the student council. So I just can't see how we can possibly stop at a Hallmark store (that's my story and I am sticking to it!) Besides, Trina gave our daughter Ashley our Christmas tree last year after I cursed the branches by hanging a Derek Jeter ornament in jest. So as of right now I don't have anywhere to hang ornaments. Yeah I think I pretty much got this one covered.

I don't think you can get away with not stoping at a Hallmark store. With all that driving you are sure to pass a Hallmark store ... maybe even a scrapbbok store. Is Trina still scrapping?

Jeff, I'm tired just reading that!

Then we need to drive 45 miles to look at some land we are considering buying so we don't have to drive so much.

Maybe you should get a helicopter instead. It might be cheaper.

With gas now at $3.02 per gallon you might be right. It is getting expensive to stay in Arizona. Last week we went to look at property. I don't think we are asking for anything out of the ordinary. I just want an acre of land, you know something big enough to put a house on with a pool in the back and enough backyard left over to install my own batting cage. This is prices that we found around the valley of the sun:

  • Phoenix - $400,000 - $450,000 per acre
  • Tempe - $500,000 - $725,000 per acre
  • Chandler - $300,000 - $400,000 per acre
  • Queen Creek - $250,000 - $450,000 per acre
  • Gilbert - $275,000 - $350,000 per acre
  • Maricopa - $100,000 - $175,000 per acre (60 minutes from Phoenix)
  • Apache Junction - $200,000 - $250,000 per acre
  • Mesa - $250,000 - $300,000 per acre
We are talking just land, no buildings. At this rate I am going to be living in Mexico (the country not the state) and "making a run for the border" will have new meaning. The only positive side to this is that our house has tripled in price since we bought it 11 years ago so we do have some equity to work with. And once we finally get the land, then the fun really begins, house planning. I have started to design the house we want. So far I have the computer lab finished, the Diamondbacks game room, and my pin and Hot Wheels storage room complete. About all I have left to design is a room with a couch so I have somewhere to sleep and a bathroom and I should have all the rooms that I use completed.

Does Disney make a "I'm searching for land" pin? I am thinking once we break ground I am going to have to search for those construction pins that were on the racks a couple of years ago and take some pictures of the house in progress and use the pins as embellishments (oh geez, I just used a scrapbooking term. I think I am being absorbed into the scrap Borg).

Don't forget Trina's Hallmark room & another room for the scrapbooking. You must keep the wife happy - it came with the marriage vows!

No way, she doesn't need a room. She just needs a 12x12 stackable bin with removable trays to hold scissors and pens and a place to journal.

Judith,

I hold you completely responsible for the events yesterday. Everything was going exactly according to plan. I had gotten the family up early and travelled to K-Mart to enter into a drawing for free Hot Wheels cars. Dakota left me and Whitney at the store to wait for the drawing while Trina took him to soccer. He arrived back just in time to be called in the drawing to select Hot Wheels from a new case (he did pretty well). We then did our errands just as I had planned. then I let it slip how peaceful it was despite the news that Judith had given me. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew we were on our way to Hallmark to check out ornaments at the premiere. I have no idea how that happened. Things were going so well. At the Hallmark store they had drawing boxes for some ornaments that I didn't even look at. They also had a drawing for one of the ugliest little witch statues I had ever seen. It was like a car wreck. You knew you should look away but you couldn't. The lady who worked in the store came up to see if I needed assistance as I stood there staring at that witch like a deer caught in headlights. She politely asked if I wanted to enter a drawing for this prize. It was at this point that I lost all touch of reality as my mouth started going before my brain fully engaged. I smiled and said, "no that's ok I don't want to win this. I think I married her sister." It was as if all other sound immediately turned off and what few men there were in the store scrambled like cockroaches in the light. A million women's eyes burned my soul to the core. I'm thinking I may be looking for a box to live in myself.

Jeff, LOL!!! I will gladly swap bills with you - your Hallmark bill from the weekend for my camera supplies (that Beauregard HAS to have) & new furniture bills from Saturday. Saturday was an expensive day for us!

We never made it to the Hallmark Store this weekend. Life got in the way!

Now if you need a box to live in, I can help. I just found out yesterday that we have company coming to visit this weekend (plus already scheduled company the following weekend - heck, I think I have a trip to WDW sometime this month, too). I have been cleaning; sorting through papers, magazines, etc.; dusting; etc. I have extra boxes that are going out with the recyles later this week. Shall I save them for you :)?
