**Trigger Warning** Death at Contemporary

The tall nature of the building and the prominent view seem to draw more of this issue than other places at WDW. Or at least it’s been more reported there. I don’t think it’s an overreaction to choose an alternative WDW hotel I also like that’s shorter to reduce risk of running into this on my vacation where I like to detox from working in hospitals.

I feel sorry that this person was so sad that they couldn't find anyway to fix it. However, overreacting to it is just as sad. You do realize that this resort has been there from day one and I remember very few incidents there, but in real life this could happen anywhere you happen to be. It just might be a different way but dead is dead.

It still hasn't even announced what caused them to fall. Did they lean to far over the railing and it was just a stupid accident or was it suicide. One day when I was in college, I worked part time delivering medical supplies with a van. I was following a semi as it turned onto a street. At that very moment the load shifted an flipped the truck on its side. The driver was injured pretty bad (time before seat belts). Less than 45 minutes later as I was driving past a city park when I heard a loud bang and looked up to see a man still standing but on the way down, gun still in hand. Jump ahead about four hours and I was waiting behind a car in line to board the auto ferry to go across the lake. We start to move on and as the car got closer to the front, all of a sudden the car ahead lunged forward at full throttle going under the chain links strung in front of the opening of the boat. The car went under the chain, broke the windshield out and sunk into the water. One of the crew that had been direction cars to their spot, jumped in and managed to bring a woman up, saving her, but he couldn't get to the driver on time, but speculation was he was already dead.

Moral of the story is it is irrelevant where one is at anytime, this can happen. The place isn't a likely spot. Would you be unwilling to go to a hospital if you're sick, because a lot of people die in that place.
I am pretty sure it's happened at least three times in the past five years counting this month? I distinctly remember it happening in 2023 and 2020 at CR.

Wonder what the odds are when based on the number of guest that have stayed there over 50+ years. My point was it wasn't the building it was the individual and that is possible at any spot one happens to be in. Believe me, death happens anywhere and we need to understand that. Fear comes from within ourselves. Shocking yes, but not necessarily life changing. If one is destined to witness it, they will and there is nothing we can do to avoid it. Never were the words "In life, timing is everything" more applicable!

It was suicide. Poor lady was pregnant and recently married. Without telling her family she booked a flight to Orlando and disappeared, they had been looking for her. She was reportedly a Disney ‘super fan’. Very sad mental health issues that cause a person to go to these extremes, but they are not processing things normally.

Poor lady was pregnant and recently married.
Was she pregnant at the time of death? All I saw in the news was that she announced the pregnancy late last year. The baby, if carried to full term, would have been borned already.

I’ll be honest: I like Bay Lake Tower and love the location, but these reports make me never want to stay there. It’s not the first time I’ve read about something like this at BLT/Contemporary, and I know my family and I would be very distraught if something like this occurred during our own stay.

I’m sorry to all affected; glad to hear staff is being treated with care.
I'm sorry, but if this is your mindset, then don't get on an airplane, or in a car, etc. This is a bit much.

At least from what I could find she announced her pregnancy December 2024. Love journalism and how they word things (insert sarcasm) as some of the sources I could find phrased it as "She had announced her pregnancy just months before her death" um you mean basically 10 months ago when the baby would have been born already?

I hate to really speculate much but in theory if that is the same pregnancy then 2 things could be contributing factor; either she miscarried (which I haven't even attempted to dig into that because it feels just wrong) or it's also possible she had postpartum depression. Or it's also possible she didn't but I think it should be something we treat with sensitivity. All the stuff I've seen is "Disney superfan" in the headline which leads people to automatically think Disney fanaticism is the reason when honestly there's really zero information other than a now deleted Reddit post supposedly from a relative asking people to be on the lookout for her there because she really loved Disney.

Is it though? There are many alternative hotels at WDW that are shorter and haven’t had so many suicides from jumpers in the past few years. You don’t hear about jumpers at Beach Club. Too short. No view. Plus I like it better.

I recognize people can die anywhere, but it is supremely disruptive and scarring to other guests to be in the midst of someone jumping to their death. I’ve been in Japan and had my train delayed multiple times for suicide at another station, but I haven’t ever had someone jump in front of me, thankfully, and would prefer that didn’t happen at a hotel I’m staying at.

While this would not deter me from staying at the Contemporary, I totally understand your point of view. :goodvibes

Were you looking to confirm or deny here? Again, jumpers are disruptive to other guests.

I don’t stay off property or at Disney Springs. There was also a Bay Lake Tower fall death in 2023, which was ruled an accident.

I know you're trying to sympathize with the other guests, but there is something off here. Someone died and their family is grieving and you're fixated on how it might disrupt someone's vaycay.

The point is that it is worth keeping in perspective that incidents like that are extremely rare at Disney properties especially considering how many millions of guests stay there every year.

Statistically, you’re more likely to experience a minor transportation delay than ever encounter or even hear about something like that firsthand. The few cases that make headlines stand out precisely because they’re so uncommon.

Still, you do you but I am entitled to think that it is a silly reason without much merit. That’s all. Or you’re trolling.
