Tried to get AP rate - they wouldn't let me!

From what I read on allears the Premium AP pass at DL gets you free parking at the park and 10% merchandise discount.

We are going to stay at the HOJO (free parking and walking distance) but that 10% discount might be worth it. Then again, I might want my AP to last through May rather than March of 2013 so I can use it again at WDW. Oh Decisions!!!!

I've been an AP holder off and on for years. Currently, an adult in each room must have a valid AP. The "up to 3 rooms" on one AP was discontinued a few years ago.

It was three rooms as recently as June 2011. The CM I worked with at the time acknowledged that this changing policy has caused some confusion.

I did look at that but we'll only be at DL for 2 days. That pass is less than $200 per person so it doesn't really help me at DL. Unless there are other discounts I'm not taking into account???

Hi Tinkerbellie! We went to both WDW and DL in 2010 and we'll do the same this year and next year. In 2010, our family of five already had WDW APs and I decided to upgrade only my WDW AP to a Premier and buy DL parkhoppers for everyone else. But the Premier was only $700 at the time and it was a 3-day DL trip. We used a gp discount for our room at GCH and we didn't need the free parking ($15 value.) But there are other benefits:

1) Merchandise discount. Not only did we get a 20% discount on everything we purchased at DL, but the Premier bumped up our WDW merchandise discount from 10% to 20%. I just checked the DL website and it's still 20% for Premier (because you get all the benefits of the highest level AP at both parks.) The DL discounts expire in May, but they have extended it in the past, so hard to say.

2) Dining discounts at DL. At WDW, we have the TIW card because the AP dining discounts are so limited. At DL, no card necessary - we received a 15% discount at TS locations. And we had two TS priority seating reservations per day, so that was a significant savings.

Upgrading just one of our WDW APs to Premier helped a ton - once I did the math in 2010, it was pretty clear. This year, with the $50 price increase on the Premier, it's not as clear. I'll probably stick with WDW APs and separate DL tickets for all of us.

Interesting!

Thanks for that info! I'll have to do the math and see how much we expect to spend (and therefor, save!)

In April of 2011, it was one room. We ended up reserving a Fort Wilderness Cabin because I couldn't get two rooms with my AP. When we went in August, it was just me and DD, so I only needed one room and didn't ask. When I made a reservation for this coming April (57 days from now!), I was told one room per AP, but then we are going during a blocked out AP discount period, so it didn't end up mattering.

Oh, I would love it if they changed it to 3 rooms!

Well, I decided just to book using the 'spring room only' discount online. I know I'm paying about $8 more a night but it's actually on work's tab. Heck, I already saved them $170 per night by not staying at the recommended hotel! I'll get my AP when I get there and that will be that!

Thanks everyone!

Your Ap is not activated until the first day you use it. You have to book the Ap discount before you arrive. They will not automatically apply it. It a may not be available when you check in.
