I am waiting for my first purchase to close through resale (past ROFR already) and I called the guide I had been talking with previously and asked about when I would be able to add on. He told me that I would have to wait for the resale to officially close, but then I could add on. The problem is that I purchased BWV, 150 pts April use year, and I was requesting to add on 50 more with the same use year. He checked the system and told me that April was all sold out, but he could sell me Feb. or March. I asked about a wait list and he said that I probably won't get it because he is not expecting that anything else will be available for some time.

My questions are as follows: 1. If I buy Feb. or March, do you think I will have many problems with reservations and keeping track of the points? We plan on traveling in April or December for the most part. 2. Should I just wait list and see what happens? Just curious as to those that waitlisted on a sold out months, how long did it take for you to be able to add on (assuming you were finally able)?

TIA for your input!!

Well, I would tell your guide to waitlist you. It sounds to me like he just wants the sale today and based on Disney's ROFR lately points could come up. I mean they just sold all those BWV points so I would think the waitlist is actually pretty small at this point. If he continues to stall, ask for a new guide!

Also, have you thought about watching for another resale.

I thought they did not allow you to add on through Disney with a different use year. I have April BWV but if I added on I might want December, which is when we usually go to BWV.

I believe you can add on any available month. It does not matter to Disney if they are the same months or not, but I think it can confuse things, though I'm not sure.

I'm confused - what does the use year have to do with making reservations? I thought it's primary consideration would be about when the points could be banked and the date by which they must be used in a given year? It doesn't affect the 11-month/7-month rule - so what am I missing?

hm, you shouldn't have any problems combining points to make ressies.
your Use Year has no impact on when you can make ressies.

the only thing is you will have to keep track of your two different banking windows.
not that big a deal.

i think the reason your guide can offer you an add-on in Feb or Mar UY is because there is a clause somewhere that says that you're allowed to buy a different Use Year if your Use Year is sold out.

now, if only i could remember where that clause is... not sure if it's the Resort POS or the Multi-Site POS.

flexsmom,

To clarify, I didn't mean that it would effect my booking window (11 or 7 months), but that it may be more complicating on when the banking/borrowing comes into play. In other words, for those that have multiple use years, is it a pretty managable thing based on when you travel. For instance, if I bank my points in any given year, I now have to keep track of 2 different deadlines.

I would try the waitlist. There were a bunch of BWV points where contracts recently went out. A lot of times people decide to cancel after the contract has been sent out or some for some reason it just doesn't go through, so you may get some points sooner than you think!

If you don't buy the same use year, you have to buy a minimum of 150 points, in other words, they sell you the minimum to buy in. I know because I recently inquired. I would look for resales.

LoveMyDVC, is right. We wanted to add-on at Vero recently but couldn't since the our use year was not available. Our guide told us that we would have to buy a brand new contract at 150 points if we wanted to buy a different use year.
