I am thinking of upgrading DS 7's tix in our package to adult so he could order adult plates at TS/CS restuarants. DS was not happy with kids choices last year since he is used to eating "adult" food than burgers/chicken nuggets.

However, we have a couple more WDW through next summer so we are going to upgrade our tix to APs. Does DS 7's adult tix need to be upgrade to adult AP or could he upgrade to child AP?

Logically thinking, I'm thinking adult AP but just want to make sure......

Most likely it would have to be upgraded to an adult AP. Have you considered just upgrading his mandatory 2 day base ticket to adult, buying a child AP out of pocket, and saving the 2 day adult ticket to be used or upgraded on a future trip?

Stargazer... If they're upping the age for dining, they have to buy an adult ticket.

OP: I'm pretty sure you cannot upgrade and adult ticket to a junior AP. Cheshire Figment will know for sure.

Pretty sure that Chesire just answered this question yesterday and said if you don't USE the ticket it can be upgraded to a child's AP.

And if you reread what I posted, you will see that I said to buy a 2 day adult base ticket for DS for the package requirements, save it for a future trip, and then buy a child AP out of pocket.

One more thing to add.... I don't want any more extra tix. We already have two sets of unused tix for future use. We also bought the package in March this year so before the price increase. So I think that also makes little difference in price. Out plan was to enter Epcot on our first day (to bring tix to current price) and go to Epcot Guest Relations to upgrade AP.
TIA!!!

If he uses it to enter, you must upgrade it to an adult AP- if you dont use it to enter, the value of what you paid for it can be applied to a child AP, but you lose the discount since it won't be briged.

Run the numbers :)

What discount?? I am confused, if they are getting a package from disney the 2 day tickets would not be disciunted.
Anyhoo, i was quite interested to hear, based on this thread, that I could upgrade a child to adult for dining... and then if I have not used the ticket yet that I could put the value of the 2 day adult ticket towards a childs AP. This would work well for me!

Are you on the Dining Plan? If you're not on the Dining Plan then you don't have to upgrade him to adult as he is more than welcome to order from the adult menu.

If you're on the Dining Plan then you need to upgrade his ticket to adult and this must be done prior to your arrival. If you want to upgrade his ticket to AP then I believe they would only upgrade it to adult AP.

you may want to check this thread before you go and do that.

the package was purchased before the June price increase so it's at the old value unless used first.

That is a pretty long thread... what is it I should be seeing?? I do not have a problem doing this and from what I have read..neither does Disney. My main concern is being able to put the 2 day adult ticket towards a child AP, since I was planning to upgrade to AP for the three of us

Do you have a child's ticket from one of those sets you can use toward his AP then save this trip's tickets for the future?

Unfortunately, we only have adult tix that were bought several years ago and unused. For this trip, we bought 7 day base ticket for 1 adult and 1 child with DDP in March 2012 (which was before the tix price increase). Now that I'm having second thought about kids meals since DS is not that fond of regular kid's offerings in both TS/CS. I am thinking of putting him as 10 so that he'll be required to buy adult tix (which I am fine with). However, since there will be at least 2 trips if not 3, we are going to upgrade our tix to APs. I was planning to go to Epcot first day and go thru the gate to bring those tix to current value than upgrade them to APs (1 adult and 1 child).

Another question is will my tix be valued at old price of A247/C224 or will it be current price of A267/C248. I'll be receiving them when I get there this Sept (after all I am receiving them after the increase).

If you had booked your package before (circa) June 12 the package tickets would have been priced lower. Modifying the ticket prior to using the ticket will result in your having to pay the difference between the old price and the new price as well as the difference between the kind of ticket you want and the kind of ticket you have.

Just wanted to inform fellow Disers, I did call this morning to change DS 8 into 10 years old so that he would get adult meals. They charged me $24.50 which is the difference between 2010/2011 (before price increase this June) child to adult ticket price plus tax.
Now upgrading to AP math.....
1. child's AP is $478. DS's current tix is worth $247. Which I need to pay $231 plus tax = 241.02 to upgrade without bringing this to current value.

2. If DS goes thru a park and brings it to current value for adult tix which is $267 but he could only upgrade to adult AP which is $519 and the difference I need to pay is $252 plus tax = $268.38

Obviously, it's wise to just get DS's upgrade to junior AP. Mean while, I need to bring my tix to current price and upgrade afterwards to AP. So that means we need to do this twice: once for DS and once for me. Which I have a feeling we will waste good 1~1.5 hours. :headache: But it does save us $28 so is it worth it??

If you already paid the amount to bring the ticket component of the package up to late 2011 ticket prices then the tickets handed to you at resort check in will have that value and not need to be used first.

Then yuou can trade in the unused adult ticket towards a child annual pass at Guest Relations outside the park.

If I understand correctly OP paid the price difference for the 2010 --> 2011 price change ONLY on the ticket she upgraded from child to adult and not for all tickets on the package. Meaning she would she would need to use hers first to get the 2011 price equivilent towards upgrade. I don't see this taking a ton of time at all!

Have DS and DH wait on the outside of the turnstile, you go through, come out wait with DS while DH goes through and comes out and then all three of you upgrade at one time. No big deal. Should take you less than 30 minutes to do.

Good luck!
