If I want to go next year during a period when one of the days is a blockout day can I upgrade my park hopper on a day when it is a blockout day?

Here is my scenario:

I want to go next April during Easter break. I want to buy a six day park hopper. I want to go on a Sunday and leave on good Friday. If I use my park hopper to get in every day INCLUDING on the last day which is Good Friday which happens to be a block out day for a deluxe annual pass, once I am IN the park can I then take my park hopper that is then completely used ie it is the last day I have used it and put it towards an annual pass or do I have to do it while I still have days left on it?

We are going to buy 4 6 day park hoppers and I want to then put them towards 3 deluxe and 1 preumium pass on the last day of our trip which happens to be a block out day and the reason I want to do this is so I have the AP to use for later in the year. Can you do this or do I have to do it before the end of our trip like a day or so before the end of our trip? And if I turn it in BEFORE the blockout day does that mean I will have to pay the block out fee for that good friday?

You can upgrade your hopper on a block-out day. Your first day of your AP can be on a block-out day. You will not have to pay the $40 fee.

Ok good and I went back and re-read on my other post and I think the other gal said you can do it on your last day as well so I think that will work! So that sounds like a plan!! Woo Hoo!! I think this will work great! I can buy the 6 day hopper, use it the whole week and get the early entry and then upgrade on my last day and not have to pay the fee and then have my AP for my trip in Feb!! YAY!! :)

If your going to upgrade one of them to a premium AP, why not do it on the first day of your trip so you can get the discounts. Free parking, discounts on food and merchadise, it seams like you woul be tossing away quite a bit of money by not having that available during your trip.

That is true. I did think about that. We aren't going to have a car and will be right across the street so I don't need the parking but I did think about the discounts on the food and I know I will miss having our AP's for the food discounts alone so I guess I need to weigh the food discounts over paying the 40 blockout fee on that last day. I am sure it will probably be more of a savings over the 6 days so you are right I probably should upgrade mine on our first day ( I was going to make mine the premium). I DID think about that part of it but wasn't sure if it would be worth it or not but you are right that is something to think about. I probably WILL do that. Thanks for the idea!

although then I wouldn't be able to get in early entry with the others. Hmmm, boy that is a tough one!

do ee the first day its avalibuel then upgrade this is what im thinking of doing in oct. (what days are ee again this year)

Since Premium has no black out dates, you wouldn't have to pay the $40 black out fee. So I would definetly upgrade that premium pass on day one. Not only do you get food discount you also get discounts on merchandise as well.

The best part is that as long as the premium pass holder hands over the payment it will cover your entire food bill or for all the merchandise. You can also get discounts at DTD as well.

Trust me those discounts add up quick and are a great help!

He's just meaning that you upgrade the one person to Premium as soon as possible b/c there are no blocked out days for Premium, then do the rest of the group on the last day. So just do your MM entrance (go in on the MM day, play in FL or on Nemo) then when you get a moment have the future Premium passholder go upgrade. Then you have that 15% discount the rest of the April trip!

I consider myself a fairly educated, smart person, but I never thought of this! :) Thanks Molly for the tip! I think it will work perfectly for us. MM on Tuesday morning then upgrade to PAP before we eat the first time. Where in the park can I upgrade?

Kelmac- I don't know how your family works, but I think I can get them up and going for MM the first day, but later in the week....forget about it! Maybe Molly's suggestion will work for you also? Even if you get two MM with GAT, will your family actually use them? I know mine won't...just something to think about. :flower3:

Glad I could pass the info along to you, LittleBlackRaincloud whose username makes no sense with the huge smile you (I assume) are flashing in your sig pic. I learned the tip here! (and master mason said it on this thread first)

My apologies to Master Mason! Thanks for the tip.

When I started at the Dis, I chose my name because I was watching the many adventures of winnie the pooh everyday with my little niece. I always liked pooh's song about being a little black raincloud wondering where he will drip. Anyways, I chose it and it's stuck. I'm a very happy person by nature though! :upsidedow
