Trick to Gettin in the Hot Seat??

I'm going to WDW in August and haven't had the opportunity to play Who Wants to be a Millionaire Play It! So I was wondering how do ya get into the hotseat?? Please, tips, suggestions anything??

Hey there,
I have been fortunate enough to make it on the Hotseat twice and Karen has been on it once.
Karen made on by the Fastest Finger portion which leads me to tip #1; Pick A B C D randomly on this portion of the game. I guarantee you that the fastest time posted will not be over 2.0 seconds. That is how Karen made it. If you know the answer and feel confident go for it but be warned, someone who does not know the answer will probably win.
tip #2; I got on both times by answering the easy questions (100 points through 2000 points very quickly. I know that sounds obvious but let me explain.
i) As soon as you know that it is either A B or C start pressing until you know it has locked in. If you know that the answers given for A B and C are incorrect start pressing D as fast as you can until you know it has locked in. Most people waste valuable time by thinking through the easy questions too much. Like I said, questions 100 through about 2000 are no brainers.

Considering that most Fastest Finger winners lose fairly quickly (except for Karen, she made it to 64 000) if you follow these tips, you should have a good chance. Keep in mind it will take a few shows to put this practice into motion.

The previous postings brought up good points. I made it to the Hot Seat by the Fastest Finger Game by guessing a sequence of four (A C B D) that happened to be correct. Otherwise, you must play the game and push the correct answers quickly to win first place in the audience to get the next Hot Seat. I made it to the 64,000 question. I tried to conserve my lifelines for the inevitable difficult questions at higher levels. The Fifty-Fifty and Ask the Audience lifelines are generally helpful for difficult questions. The Phone a Complete Stranger lifeline is a crapshoot of sorts. I lost on a difficult question that I guessed wrong but figured the stranger wouldn't know either, but maybe I should've used that last lifeline! Good luck!

I made it into the hot seat during the Fastest Finger round. I just randomly hit the A B C & D buttons and lucked out.

Best of luck - it really is strange being in the hot seat!

I agree with all the strategies. My husband, two teens and myself were there last week. The second time we played, THREE of us were on the leader board using the strategies described and it was a full house (650 people)! When the second hot seat person lost, they called an end to the session and then showed the leader board ... my 17 yr old DD was at the top!!! What a bummer that the game was over!

For the first session, we weren't quite sure what was going on ... we were much better prepared for the second session. Who knows what would have happened if we played a third time!!!

Another strategy tip: When in the hot seat, if you are unsure of your answer ... say it out loud and then pause before you say "final answer" -- the audience tends to sigh or start to clap depending if you are right or not -- you can always change your answer if you haven't said "final answer." I know the audience isn't suppose to do this, but they did it anyway when we were there last week.

That is a good point Trapped-Parent...most of the time!
When I got on the second time, I had thought of that. My question was where is the Hope diamond located?
I used 50/50 and Phone a complete stranger.
It was narrowed down to either The Smithsonian or the British Museum.
I had no idea, both answers were plausible in my mind. So I said the Smithsonian, the crowd starting ahhhhh-ing as if it was wrong, so I had not said Final Answer yet so I changed it to British Museum and heard more ahhhhhh's. By that time I was embarassed about my flip-flopping that I stuck with British Museum. The host said "Oh no, you're gonna kick yourself, the answer is the Smithsonian."
It was all in good fun and everyone had a good laugh. I was just surprised the audience was so divided.
