Trick or Treating

We have kids all ages coming aroudn trick or treating- I don't care how old they are- they knock on the door they get candy- I don't care if they wear costumes or not. We also don't have this "porch light on" rule here- kids go up the block and knock on every door, light or no light- many houses don't even have front lights on their houses to leave on or turn off! This year its on a Sunday so my daughter and her friends are already planning on going out around 2ish and continuing on until nighttime! They had the same plan last year since it was on Saturday but my daughter ended up with swine flu and couldn't go trick or treating.

I am surprised when people around the country go out so early-some areas even have set times to go. Around here everyone waits for it to start getting dark to go out. I know most people wouldn't have their candy buckets ready at that time of day :lmao:.

I'll be trick or treating at 37 this year. Load me up with Laffy Taffy and Airheads please.

Same around here.

Heck, I still dress up every year myself and go out with my kids and all the other neighborhood kids.

I love Halloween!

Add me to the Halloween lover group. I dress up and walk the neighborhood with the kids. DS is 11 and will definitely be trick or treating this year. We also throw a big party every Halloween.

Ooh, now I'm excited!! Time to work on this year's costume. Last year I was Tink!

I wish I still could! I stopped last year, 9th grade, because everyone was sick with H1N1 and none of my friends were going.

Most kids (and my friends) stop because of the dirty looks we get from a lot of adults. We're in costume, we say Trick-or-Treat, we don't cut kids in line or scream or swear in front of them, so why act like we are evil? Would you rather we wear skimpy sexy costumes and walk the streets drunk with half-naked boys in front of your kids/homes?!

We throw a big party every year too! I'm known as the Queen of Halloween around here. I do a matching couples costume with my husband every year and then we do a family theme for Halloween night. My husband and I were ghosts from the titanic last year and then we did a Star Wars family theme. I think this year for our adult party we might be Rhett and Scarlet and might do a Scooby Doo theme for our family costumes. I told the family we need to decide by the end of the month so I can get to working on the costumes!

Where I grew up, everyone went trick or treating all through high school. Teens still got really into dressing up and the community seemed to enjoy the fact that their teens were still enthusiastic about the holiday and were enjoying themselves in safe way. I love when I get older kids/teens at more door who are into the spirit and am happy to give them candy. I'd rather than be trick or treating than getting into trouble.

Certainly not--I'm sure the adults who give you dirty looks wish you would just stay home, or go to a nice party at a friend's house. It's not like you HAVE to either go trick-or-treating or cause trouble.
That being said, at my house we give candy to anyone who comes (once only!) between the usual times for our neighborhood--around 6-8:30p.m. If there's a teen not in costume I'll tell them that I hope they'll try harder next year!

Most people with little ones go out early and are home with them before dark here. You don't get to many little kids coming once it starts to get dark- thats when the bigger kids come out.

Whenever they decided they didn't want to do it anymore.. The only "rule" was that if they were going to TOT, they had to wear a costume - even if it was something they put together themselves..

I don't believe in "age limits" for kids TOTing - as long as they have some sort of costume on..:goodvibes

My son chose to stop when he was 12 but my daughter still trick or treated through high school! We do a big yard display every year and get tons of trick or treaters of all ages and I love it - no age limits with me!
