We are going to MNSSHP this year. I read on a post that you get halloween candy on Main St. Is this true? If so do you bring bags or do you get them there?
not quite... they give you treat bags, and a map with treat locations, where a CM will give you some candy... they are located all throughout the park.

this is what we did: you take wal-mart shopping bags with you in your backpack cause the bags they give you are little. we would put all of our candy in our bags and we ended up with a lot!!!
it is so much fun! we stayed till midnight and i didn't think we would.
be sure and buy the soundtrack, it's great and you can only get it in the park that night!

We went two years ago on Oct 31st. It was okay...not great. My older daughter said it was her worst Halloween ever. She didn't like have to walk long distances between the candy stations and having to wait in the long line-ups. She has more fun running from house to house for candy and seeing her friends all dressed up. I'm not quite sure what we were expecting from the MNSSHP but we were a little disappointed. But to each their own....everyone has their own opinion!
I do hope you have a wonderful time!
P.S.
We really, really enjoyed the Pirate and Princess Party. I highly recommend it.
We have been going to MNSSHP every other year since 2002 and my 2 daughters LOVE it!! They are now 14 & 16 and they're already planning their costumes for this year's party. We always get so much candy that we can't eat it all during our stay. It s lots of fun! There's so much to see and do that we don't rush to each candy station but just get some as we pass them. Just check the map for the locations.
If you think Halloween is fun- and Disney is fun- can you just imagine what Disney does with Halloween??
My husband, two girls (3 and 5) and I went last year and we could not recommend it more! The parade was amazing- special Halloween floats- and the ghosts from the Haunted Mansion came out for the parade! It was all started off by a HUGE horse with the headless horseman carrying his glowing pumpkin head. You'll want a front row seat.
The trick or treating was set up in several areas around the park- each was like a trail in itself- with several characters and huge bins of candy. The candy was a great mix- not just cheap stuff. We had so much candy we had to take bags of it home with us! The bags were thick plastic with great handles. They held up to the load well.
My girls wore custom dresses that we had made from Disney Halloween fabric and they were a hit! There were characters out all over the park- including a meet and greet with Snow White and all 7 Dwarves! What an amazing experience.
You will love it. The ride lines were short- but I would concentrate on visiting the trick or treat areas- it's special to meet some of the characters that are not usually out. We capped off the evening with a midnight ride on Pirates!
Have fun!
