I was just wondering.. what kind of candy do they give out? Is it your standard Halloween fair or is it special or different in any way?? The kids and I are talking about maybe adding that to our trip and that was their second question! LOL The first question was, will everyone be dressed up... :)

It's regular candy, but it's not crappy candy. Between our 4 full bags in '09, we had an entire bag full of Mand Ms and Snickers. YUM!

Not everyone dresses up, but many do.

The candy is not the highlight of MNSSHP. In fact some people skip the trick or treating part altogether. The parade, fireworks, M&Gs and dance parties are worth the price of admission. For us, the parade alone is worth the cost.

We ended up with at least 10 lbs of candy. The CMs were like here take 2 handfuls and by the end of the evening it was getting very heavy. it was premium candy... loads of chocolate.:thumbsup2

IEEE or ISO? ;)

It is mostly filler candy that you can buy in bulk at home..Smarties,MaryJanes, Sugar Daddies, Dots

I usually go 3 or 4 times per season to Halloween and a buddy of mind is in charge of the Halloween parade....I complained about the quality of candy the past few years and he said many people complained and Disney has heard the complaints and have upgraded the quality of candy....

I hope they really did...a few years ago you got a good mix of Chocolate with some candy....the last few years it was garbage candy with some crummy beads tossed in......

Last year I was not impressed with the candy. It was mostly cheap filler stuff. Most of which was discarded.

While our daughter had a hard time focusing on anything but the candy, the rest of us were all about the party. The parade is very much worth standing & waiting for a good spot to watch! I still cannot get the music out of my head a year later. :goodvibes

The fireworks, the villians show, the different meet & greets, special photo opps, rides in the dark. So much to do & see besides wasting time on the candy. ;)

Have been a couple of times to the one in Disneyworld and the candy seemed to be going downhill over time... last year we did the Disneyland Halloween instead and the candy was absolutely awful... the kind of stuff we would have been ashamed to hand out at home... it was fairly telling that when our kids realized that some places would give you a choice of candy or a bag of baby carrots, they picked the carrots... they aren't high on carrots but for them they were an upgrade from the candy.

And yes a lot of people dress up, young and old alike... sometime a whole family will and sometimes only the kids... so don't feel like you have to and don't feel like you aren't supposed to... its whatever you want.

I would suggest that you consider carefully what you wear because of heat. It can still be very hot that time of year from the humidity... we made the mistake of wearing rather heavy costumes our first time and paid dearly for it.

Yes, yes I am. ;)

Sorry people but if the candy is "Standard Halloween Candy" then the agency would be the FDA not ISO, Ansi or IEEE. Now if you want to control the quality process that was used to make the candy you might be talking ISO9000.

And yes I am proud to admit I'm a geek too.

It is a mixture and each bin might have something different. I found one spot that had sugar babies and I exclaimed how much I loved them and the CM gave me at least 20 of the packets. We also got some plain hard candies (no name), candies from goofy's candy company, and snickers, milky ways, suckers, etc. There are a few people who have posted their candy bags online and you can see what they got. Trust me - you get SOOOO much that even if half of it is candy you don't like, you will get enough that you do like that you will not be able to finish it all.

It is either hit or miss with the Candy. I went to a couple of MNSSHP and there was better Candy served at the first party then the second which was much closer to Halloween. I love the Peanut Butter Cups one time I came home with over 75 cups, it was tasty :thumbsup2
