So the wife wants to bring the kids and her trailer to FW in Oct and the kids are sad because they want to stay home to trick or treat. Does anyone know if the kids in the campground actually still trick or treat there or is that not done? If not then that scraps her plans of an Oct camping trip to FW LOL.

Holloween at Fort Wilderness is so much fun. It's been several years since we were there for Holloween and I think there was some tricker treaters. We went to the Not so very Scary Holloween Party which had lots of kid dressed up and Tricker Treating. My folks stayed at Fort Wilderness and said that they had a few tricker treates. I don't think it was many. They also have The Haunted Hay Ride which is fun to. The Holloween Party at the Magic Kingdom is alot of fun! You might think about going there for Holloween.

Ya my wife tried to convince the kids to go to the party at MK but all they want to do on halloween night is trick or treat but if there isn't much of it that goes on at the fort then the kids will be seriously dissapointed. That other than our annual trip to WDW is their favourite time of year and thing to do. I guess the Oct trip is out for them then LOL. The would rather stick to our usual Dec trip and to the MVMCP even though they have been to it 5 times allready. So I guess no trick or treating means no Halloween trip to WDW.

Please wait for other relpies.. before you make your final decision. There maybe other posters that have been more recently then me, and actualy stayed at Fort Wilderness for Holloween. It realy is a great time of year to go!

I am sure the kids would havbe a great time regardless but I won't be there to oversee things LOL as it will just be my wife and the 4 kids driving with the trailer and if they find out there is not any real trick or treating (hopefully there is) then they will be dissapointed and my wife will have to deal with it without me LOL. I am sure she isn't prepared to do this mind you it will only be 4 days at FW and the last 10 at Saratoga or AKLV so it wouldn't be to bad I guess. I guess I will have to wait and see what others have to say also before I let them all know.

I have to say last year we went to MNSSHP and we trick-or-treated and got so much candy we had to empty our bags into another bag, so they won't miss candy trust me!! And they can get in line as many times as they want and there are places everywhere.

We brought candy along to hand out if we had trick or treaters, but we didn't in our loop. So, instead we rode around in the golf cart and handed it out to kids we saw, with permission from mom and dad of course. We ended up with more candy from MNSSHP than we came with. It was really fun!

Halloween lasts all month at Disney. We were there the week before Halloween last fall. Campground was all decked out, did Mickey's not so scary Halloween party, and we were home for the real Halloween.

Great time of year to go. Weather is still nice, it's value season (a full hookup site with the AAA discount was under $40), and it's not too crowded (most kids being in school).

Do it!

The wife was just going to use our DVC points for the site and we talked to the kids tonight and if they can't trick or treat like normal (as in at home) they don't want to go they do not want to go to MNSSHP so that would be a waste of money to take them to something they do not want to do so it is settled no Oct trip for mom and the kids. Thanks for all the replies it was appreciated.

Boy ol boy. Do these kids not know what they're missing. TAKE ME! TAKE ME!
LOL. I took my daughter to MNSSHP back in 02 and she had a blast. She was 5 then and the one thing I remember it was a Friday night and the park was dead. We got to go on so many rides. That was her 1st time on the Haunted Mansion as well. The night ended with a rain storm that left water about ankle deep in the park but we didn't care. I would reconsider. Trick or treating must be really fun in Canada lol.

It is and we have a full night each and every halloween it starts after the kids get home from school they lay out thier costumes and get some dinner. Then it is into the costumes and off to Nana's house to show her the scary faces and do some trick or treating around there then we head to grandpas place for the same then head home for some trick or treating around our place. After about 7 PM we head over to my aunt and uncles for a halloween party they decorate the entire house and yard up for the festivities they have won the best decorated house 20 years running for the entire city. We then trick or treat around there for a bit then head back to their place for some fun with all the cousins and aunt and uncles it is a big family gathering we usually get the kids home around midnight that night so that is the biggest thing for them as halloween is a special night for our family.

We were in the 100 loop last year and brought candy to hand out as well. The Ft was fun for Halloween, and we did the hayride ... but we didn't have any trick or treaters come around.

We'll be there again for Halloween this year. We'll probably bring some candy along, but I'm not expecting any kids to come around like I was last year

See with nothing going on like trick or treating in the campground the kids are not up for a trip to Disney for this time of year which is fine by me as I would rather the entire family go down together anyhow and that will be Dec instead. This is afterall our favourite time to go the kids also love that they get the first 2 weeks of Dec off school for our holiday at Disney then they go back to school for a few days and are off for christmas holidays LOL.

There is trick or treating at Downtown Disney on Oct. 30 and 31. We are debating on the Mickey's party for the 31rst. I really wish folks trick or treated at the camp ground.

There is trick or treating at FORT

not advertised but , there is.

Here is how it works:

About 1/4 of the campers at the fort give out candy
they set up in there driveways near the roads and have a light on. The kids usually come around on bikes or golfcarts with there familys. It seams like most of the sites set-up are near the settlement area 100-800 loops. The
last 2 years we had over 100 kids come by Halloween night. We were in the 700 loop. We were the ones with the loud spooky Halloween music/sounds a Bat globe (kind of a snow globe with bats not snow) large blow-ups and our lot outlined with purple ropelights.

We will be there again this year for Halloween week.

You must go to the MNSSHP but not on Halloween night. have everybody in your group dress up in a costume. 2/3 or more of the people at the MNSSHP are in a costume.

Thanks for the info Jeff I let the kids know about it and they still want to stay home and trick or treat and go in Dec instead LOL.

If you decide to go stop by and say hello.

We just reserved our site today for halloween week, somewhere in the 700 loop again. Just look for the site outlined with purple ropelights. check out the photos on fw pic of the day thread. Some of the people are over the top on holiday decorations.

Usually tickets for the MNSSHP go on sale May 1

That is the other thing the kids don't want to go to MNSSHP either so the Oct timeframe seems to be out for my wife and the kids to camp. I will show them the pics and see if that changes their mind.

I love this video from the Halloween party I showed it to the kids the 2 youngers ones ran away screaming when the zombies were dancing and playing with the shovels so that cements it they will not be going in Oct. I do love the song with the fireworks and what is even better is it is Canada's own Bare Naked Ladies that are singing it.
