Does anyone have any idea when Fort Wilderness will be doing the trick or treating this year. Last year they did it on Sunday since it was the 31st. However, this year it falls on a Monday and I can't believe they would wait until Monday for the kids to trick or treat since most of them are only there for the weekend. I was actually surprised that last year it was on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Yes, I realize that the entire weekend will be filled with the usual activities that the Fort has for Halloween but I am specifically interested in when they will be doing trick or treating. Has anybody received any info?

I wish they would post the schedule 'cause it affects our travel plans and I gotta get planning.;);)

I would venture to guess that trick or treating on Halloween itself but they will probably have Halloween activities all weekend.

I would guess that you would go trick or treating ON Halloween.
However, I think the entire weekend would be devoted to the holiday.

We are staying at the Fort this Halloween and the schedule says Trick or Treating on the 31st... The rest of the weekend has lots of cool stuff though... See you all there!!

1) We have been there on Holloweeen weekdays.
2) They trick-or-treat on Holloween, only.
3) Not the weekend.
4) And, yes, they make the kids wait until that night.

THis is good news for us. My next question is what time do the kids trick or treat. We are planning to return to the fort for halloween night for possibly the movie, chip and dale and trick or treat. I'd love for someone to post an activity schedule. Since we are only there for a short weekend, DH informed me pulling the camper and camping was not an option. (He's humoring me and letting us come for the weekend though:thumbsup2). Which leads to my next question. We'll be @ Pop Century, is hitting AK and then a bus to FW the best way to get there?, and then the best way back to PC? Thanks for any info :):goodvibes

AK closes pretty early. Any other Park or going to DTD then bus to FW. MK will probably be packed.
As for the time, 5pm sticks in my head, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I still haven't seen the official posting for the Halloween schedule but they have the events posted from 2010. It makes sense they would do it on the official date. The info I've been checking is on the top of this page under Events/Halloween. They state that Trick or Treating at the resorts (including FW) is only for the guests staying at that resort. Given all the complaints by FW guests of outsiders coming into the Fort (using the pool, TorT for Halloween, etc.) there has been significant improvement in limiting the Forts activities/amenities to only those staying at the Fort. They are periodically key carding at the pool and on holiday weekends are increasing security at the gates to eliminate outsiders/locals. It will be interesting to see how they handle this on Halloween since this will be the first Halloween since the new and improved security measures.

Is there still ToT at DTD ?

According to last years events on the top of this page, they had ToT at DTD-open to the public and then they have it for the guests staying at the Fort, Sarotoga Springs, Old Key West and Wilderness Lodge. I'm really surprised that more hotels don't have it but maybe they just don't advertise it.

I wish they would hurry up and post what they are going to do for this year.

we were there a few years ago and trick or treating was crazy! We tried to do the chip and dale thing and it was so packed my dd got her candy and we left. we then moved to the trick or treating and many of the people we talked to spent a fortune of candy. One site had 3 5 gallon bucket of candy and when we went by around dark, he already went through 2 and 1/2 buckets in an hour..

The one thing I didnt like was the number of kids on bikes no lights....we almost got run over many times by kids racing though the loops in the dark...

I can't remember where I read it, but somewhere I saw that monthly activities aren't posted until the 1st of the month. Daily activities and movies are released at the same time. Makes sense but drives us planning OCD people NUTS!!!:rotfl:

All I can say is staying at FW on Halloween and trying to cover the "treats" is a real dilemma for us since DW is a diabetic and I don't eat many "sweets" and the last time we bought like 5 or 6 or the mega WM bags of treats and ran out and resorted to using our reserve jolly ranchers, etc. that DW has for emergencies or to tide her over to the next meal.

Is it worth Trick or Treating at FW then?? I was thinking of going there from the 30th to Nov. 2nd, and stay in one of the cabins because of all the activities offered for halloween. Is it so busy that its not worth it?? Do alot of people come from other resorts?? That stinks, I may reconsider going than, why should I pay the price for the cabins to enjoy it all when others just stay at the value resorts and jump onboard, and their isnt enough for the actual resort guests to enjoy? We usually do christmas time at FW and LOVE LOVE LOVE it, but thinking of trying something new this year.

I would love your input please!!!

We have been at the Fort during Halloween two out of the last three years and it is absolutely crazy crowded with people. Lots of people reported that they brought 40-60 pounds of candy, that is ridiculous. It's like a mass mob of kids walking around the loops, especially in the 100-900 loops. It's not so much the people from the other resorts as it is the locals that come to the Fort for all the candy. Where else can you go in Orlando and get such a large amount of people handing out candy in such a small area. Cars full of people would just pull into the overflow lot, or get onto the FW resort bus at another bus stop and then just hop the internal buses at FW; just like they do for the pool. Of course, there has been some attempt at increased security at the Fort so hopefully it will not be as bad this year. Even if there is a decrease in outsiders, it will still be crazy busy at the Fort.

Yes, Halloween is going to be crowded, but isn't that part of the fun? People watching, meeting new people and getting loads of candy? My family will be there this year from the 29th of Oct to 5 Nov, we don't have anything planned other than hanging around the fort on Halloween to partake in the special activities and do all of the above. I'm sure there are some resort hoppers but I just can't imagine that it's going to be so crowded that it's unejoyable. I've talked with MANY people that do this every year and they say its' the best. Guess we will find out:thumbsup2

Ok, was thinking about changing my dining reservations so my GD would not miss the TorT, but may just pass on it all. We have tickets to MNSSHP on the 1st so we will just be happy with that. All this talk about locals crashing the park for TorT and the pool have me second guessing my choice of resorts. The WL did not suit or friends, but may send them to the value resort and book us at the Lodge.

I talked to 2 Cast Members who both said that the only people who will be allowed in the campground will be those with dining reservations or Haunted Carriage Ride reservations. No resort guests from other resorts will be allowed into Fort Wilderness without these reservations and all who come to the campfire singalong and movie will be asked to show their resort keys. They may find a way to check your room key while trick or treating as well.

Was out there last week through this week. They did a nice job keeping most people who were not staying out there off property, for future planning.

Thanks! I was just about to post asking how it went.
