Trick or Treating along Boardwalk, DTD?

I did a search and in the past people suggested going along the boardwalk or to DTD if your children wanted to go Trick or Treating and you weren't going to MNSSHP on Halloween. Was this true this year? Did anyone do it? My family just told me they would like to go to WDW next year during Halloween's week, children are mostly too young for the party time. Do you think this will be available for them to do?

There was trick or treating DtD and West Side. We noticed a lot of people doing it both on 10-30 and 10-31.
More decorations went up from our visit to DtD 10-29 to the 30 also and there was a witch storyteller and also a dance party going on. Lots of fun!
(The bags they handed out were bigger and cuter that at MNSSHP also ).

The BoardWalk had a Halloween party, with trick-or-treating, photo-ops with the characters, and dancing from 5:30-8:30 Halloween night. It was open to anyone. It was held on the commons, by the boat dock. Looked like fun for the kids.

I've gone to Boardwalk and DTD for trick-or-treating for the past 3 Halloweens. I love it! If you can't afford a MNSSHP ticket or they are sold out and you wanted to go trick-or-treating, it's a perfect alternative. I got almost as much candy as I did at the party! Tons of people were dressed up and almost every store had a candy stop, both in Market Place and Westside. Boardwalk has tables set up along the walkway plus dancing and crafts.

I didn't have any problems being a "big kid" getting candy except at one table who coldly insisted it was for 12 and under even though every single other candy location had cheerfully dropped candy in my bag. (i'm a firm believer that anyone who wears a costume and is polite has a right to free candy on Halloween.)

We were at Boardwalk on Halloween and had a great time. As the other said there was a dj, cookie decorating, about 6 craft tables and a character opportumity. There were at least 8 spots to stop along the Boardwalk for candy too.

We just got back. I did trick-or-treating at the Monorail hotels on Halloween night. Each hotel had activities, candy locations, and each store also gave out candy. It was fun.

Is 5:30 - 8:30 the general time for all of the locations, DTD, BW area, and the monorail resorts?

We just got back. I did trick-or-treating at the Monorail hotels on Halloween night. Each hotel had activities, candy locations, and each store also gave out candy. It was fun.

We just got back last week and stayed at the Contemporary. They had a pumpkin contest set up on the concourse and trick-or-treat stations set up in several locations. The list of treat locations was on a board by the escalators. My kids got alot of candy at the Contemporary!

We also did some trick-or-treating at DTD during the day on Halloween. It was before the posted starting time, but the stores were giving out candy already. In the Lego store, they were giving out candy and Lego bricks that said Happy Halloween on them. Halloween is a great time to go to WDW!
