I hope next year we'll be able to decorate more and dress things up. Sounds like our parents didn't get much for visitors and have asked if they can join us next year. Then we can go in on the candy and all enjoy.
We went up to my parents' house (we live in an apartment) and got around 40 or so, which was an improvement over last year. We handed out fun size KitKats, Almond Joys, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Nerds and Peanut M&Ms. We also had a big bag of fun size Milky Way, Snickers and 3 Musketeers that we didn't have to use (saved the best for last in case there were leftovers! ). We sat out in the driveway to hand out the candy. We did have a few little kids who were far more interested in the dog than the candy- there was a little Thomas the Tank Engine and wall-e that had the best time petting and getting licked by my parents' dog (who is a total sweetie that looooooooves people) and when their mom asked if they wanted candy, they said "no!" and went back to loving on Cassie!
We had approx. 450.... I had 500 pieces of candy and we gave out 1 per child for the most part unless we knew them well in which case they got 2.... but we ran out in 2 hours and turned the lights off.... Our neighborhood is the place to be on Halloween and parents bring their kids from all over town (and neighboring towns)....
Wow, we only had about 7. One group of 3 and another of 4. It was quite pitiful, really. But we've been getting really bad Trick or Treat numbers for the past few years. We weren't expecting many, so we just gave them leftover Mickey's Trick or Treat Party candy.
Like a PP, we've had a lot of Russian immigrant families move into our neighborhood in recent years, so maybe that explains it.
That being said, we've NEVER had anywhere near the amount that some of you have. 450+! Holy cow!
For the second straight year...I had no one show up. We don't have many kids in the immediate area so I guess the kids that live several streets over decided to go somewhere else.
We only had a couple. Actually my block has changed to mostly orthodox jewish families, so not too many people come. When we go out with my DS, we go a couple of blocks away and that's where most of the people go. Now, I just have to stop myself from snacking on the Kit Kats!
