Just wondering if the Triathlon has any effect on the parks or getting around the WDW property...anyone have any info on this????

Yes and Yes. Generally there are roads that are closed to traffic for a portion of the morning for these events. As far as the parks, if there are still athletes in the parks at park opening they have been known to delay the park opening or certain areas of the park from opening until it is complete. That would just depend on the athletes and how far along in the race they are.

:( I was afraid of that. Perhaps that'll be a good day to relax at the resort during the earlier part of the day insteading of heading straight to one of the parks.

Does it only last for the earlier portion of the day??

TIA

Yeah it starts fairly early in the morning and they usually have it back to normal by noon at the latest, as far as the roads are concerned. (the parks in past have only been delayed opening about 30 minutes to an hour...in my expereince)

We have a PS at Chef Mickey's for that morning, do you think it could effect us getting there? We planned on taking the monorail from the MK right to the Contemporary. What's do you think???

Depending on where you are staying, It may take a little longer to get there but it won't be impossible. They close certain roads off, but they do not block all access to locations, the main road that would be taken may be blocked, but back roads to the same place would be avalaible. (Monorail will not be affected).

From what I just read here...

...it sounds like this will all take place near the Contemporary Resort and in EPCOT...

I'm with you, Shelby...I'm hoping this won't disrupt our plans too much, especially since we're only going to be there for 4 days (23rd-26th) so we don't have a lot of spare time... :worried:
Let's keep our fingers crossed...maybe we can find some pixie dust...or a magic lamp! :genie:
Or does anyone know if we'd just avoid these areas, would we still be affected by this event?
:wave2:
