My daughter wants to do the Star Wars Trials of the Temple show for kids. I understand you need to sign up when HS opens. So seriously, how hard is this to get into? Should we be prepared to go for rope drop or early EMH if we have to? We only plan to spend one day at HS and we don't have Park Hopper tickets.

Thanks!

When are you going? You say you understand that you need to sign up when HS opens. So yes, you need to go to rope drop, that's what that means. Some people report that they have been able to sign up arriving mid-morning, but if my child really wanted to do it, I wouldn't take that chance. There are more slots than with the old Jedi Training show, because there are two "levels" on the stage, but it can still fill early in the day.

Some reports are that they begin sign-ups 30-60 minutes before the park opening time.
Arrive early.

We are going first week of December. We will plan to go early then! Thanks!

When we did it on 3/2 we were there about 40 min before park opening and there were a good amount of people in front of us in the designated JTA entry lines. There were 3 lines to the left. We were fortunate and got in the quickest moving one. They let the 3 lines enter about 30 min. before park opening and directed us back to sign ups. Your results will depend on how far up in line and how quickly your line gets through the tap stiles. The first show was full by the time we signed up but there were plenty to choose from. We were done signing up and to the rope before they let the rest of the guests enter the park.

Before the remodel it was much harder to get in. So if you see reports talking about that most likely they are older.
It was remodeled last year and they not only doubled the number of participants but they increased the number of shows offered.
It will still fill each day but no where near as fast. You should still get there early so you can get the sign ups done, and get picks of shows.

One word of note, since you mention only 1 day, they cancel due to rain. It's outdoors with an elevated stage. If there is any wetness they will not hold the show. Just something to think about. Especially if it's during the summer when afternoon storms are so very common.

Ok, so if the park opens at 9 pm, we should aim to be at the front by 8:15-ish and then look for lines designated for JTA signups and they will more than likely let the JTA crowd into the park early to make there way over to the signups.

Yes. for the most part
I don't know how likely it is they'll allow you in early to sign up
But, HS does allow all guests through the turnstile about 15-20 min before it opens. They then hold guests at internal ropes. There are reports that on some days they allow guests to go on and sign up for JTA while they are holding you at the internal ropes. Other days they do not. As it's really impossible (at this time) to know ahead of time what they'll do it is best to assume you won't get to sign up till the internal rope drops and if you do, then you'll just be ahead of schedule for the day.

We're signing up our 4 girls now that all 4 are old enough. Planning on the 4:10 show which shouldn't be a problem from the sound of it.

We were in HS on 3/10. Copying what I posted in a FB group regarding this topic:

JEDI TRAINING!!! Because I'm at HS today & I know this is a hot topic!! Got here around 7:45 am and they started four lines all the way to the left. All lines were about 4 families deep - so not bad. The first 2 were ADRs, the other 2 were for JT sign ups. They let the ADRs in at 7:55, the JT lines just after 8. They will not let you through the gate if you don't have your kids w. you. So be careful sending a placeholder even for gate entry. The poor guy in front of us had been there since 7 but when they opened the gate his family still wasn't there. Lots of CMs directing us to the sign up inside Indiana Jones Outpost. We had our choice of all shows when we got there (8:10-ish). About 10 minutes later the lines at the gates were considerably larger but not awful. I'm sitting in the sign up area now & it doesn't seem like the line is out of control. We're sitting by Echo Lake now just hanging out until rope drop. They said they'll probably start letting people in the rest of the park around 8:45. Good luck all!!

ETA: HS opened at 9am today. No morning EMH.

Update: Went back at 11:40 am for our scheduled JT session & there were ppl there signing their kids up still - evening shows available. Obviously this would vary from day to day depending on crowd levels.

We were there on February 15 (it was a busy park day due to President's Day). We arrived at the park about 9:00 and headed right over. We were on line to sign up for over an hour. When we got to the front the last three shows had available times.

Anyone there last week to report if a mid-morning arrival still had spots available? We have a dinner ADR at HS and didn't want to be there from RD until close. Want a late afternoon/evening spot
