Things I have learned in the last couple months doing trials:
1. Be careful if you are doing a lot of trials, many are owned by the same people and when you call to cancel you are told you are already cancelled.
2. Ask when you cancelled. (at least 2 offers told me I cancelled before I had even signed up!)
3. Call back later and get a different operator. One offer told me I wasnt in the system. Called back the next day and they didn't have a problem finding me.
4. Don't cancel too soon, but don't wait till the last day incase there are problems getting thru or they can't find you.
5. Use prepaid or cards like obopay incase you can't cancel, or try and they continue to bill you, the money won't be there. One offer told me after 2 trys to charge you, they automatically cancelled your account. (I wouldn't count on that for everyone)
6. If you are using different credit cards (I have two prepaid cards) keep up with which card you used to do the offer. The names that show up on the credit account don't come close to matching what the offer was called.
7. Keep a calendar of when to cancel what offer and check it daily.
8. Print out everything that has to do with the offer so that you have all your information when it's time to cancel. So far (cross my fingers) only one offer is impossible to reach--epower--and I have just given up. They can try and charge the card, but there is currently on $8 on it.
9. Also, and this may be common sense. I always use my real address and phone number and the same email address for these offers. That way I always know what phone number I used, what address I used, and what email address I used. Many offers ask for your phone number and email address when canceling.
Ok, if anyone has anything else to add, please do!!!
10. Oh, one other thing, if calling, have a book handy, or be by the computer, some places can keep you on hold forever!!!!!
