Has anyone gone horseback riding at fort wilderness? Was is worth the cost? What sort of scenery did you get to see? Looking to go just my husband and I. Thanks!

Yes, it has been a while.

If you enjoy horses and don't mind splurging on vacation it was worth the $.

It was a trail through the "woods". The guide did say sometimes you'll see deer.

FYI, don't wear light colored pants.

My daughter and I did the ride last trip. It's nice, but I don't know if I would do it again. It's about an hour long along a trail through the woods of the campground. We saw some turkeys and deer during our ride which was late morning. The ride is not challenging. Your main job is to keep your horse from 1. eating along the trail and 2. getting too close to the horse in front of it.

From all I've heard, unless you are 'really' into horseback riding, it's not worth the extra $$'s to see basically what you can see anywhere else in the campground, except you are on a trail in the woods.

We are spending four nights in a Cabin in July with my two nieces ages 13 and 10. Neither one has even been horseback riding before. Is this a good first experience for them? Do I need to bring jeans for them to wear? I don't want to ride, so I would be waiting for them at the Ranch.

THANKS

Jeans are not required, but might be preferred. Closed toe shoes ARE required. No flip flops or sandals. We wore shorts and sneakers.
