I think my son would LOVE this place, however, we have a Rainforest Cafe about half hour from us and can go anytime. I have heard that TRex is the same food, and just about the same atmosphere with dinosaurs instead of the elephants/gorillas/etc. Is this true? Should we skip it since we have a Rainforest Cafe so close (which my kids love by the way)?

No dont skip it. Its pretty neat to see. The food is pretty good too. Its a lot of fun, moreso than rainforest i think. :)

The food is about the same. The atomosphere is wonderful if you have a dinosaur lover though! I'd give it a shot, you might can visit RFC at home, but not TRex. :)

T-Rex Cafe has a variety of atmospheres--there are four rooms, an ice cave, jungle, underwater themed room, and a room that has a meteor shower on the ceiling. The dinosaurs are very cool, but it can be loud and might frighten small children if they are afraid of dinosaurs. Personally, I think the food is better than Rainforest Cafe, the menu is listed online. I think it's worth a try if you are planning on dining in Downtown Disney!

We have 2 teens - they want to try T-Rex. The menu sounds good.

But which room is the best?
ice cave, jungle, underwater themed room, and a room that has a meteor shower on the ceiling.

They do not need dinosaur roars during their meal.

Which room should we request ?

Thanks!

T-Rex Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants! :goodvibes We actually think the food is a lot better than the food at Rainforest Cafe. Be sure to try their mozzarella sticks! :thumbsup2

Good to hear! I don't like our local RF Cafe's food at all. But my 4 year old loves dinosaurs so I made reservations at T-rex!

We ate there for the first time in Nov. and my whole family loved it! We have teens and a toddler and everyone thought it was really cool. We also have a RFC close by and I thought the food at T-Rex was much better. We actually really enjoyed our food.

We loved T-Rex far more then Rainforest Cafe. The food and service was better and we just enjoyed the atmosphere. We only had adults in our party. I would return to T-Rex but would skip Rainforest in the future.

We have two Rainforest Cafes close to us (Katy Mills Mall and Galveston). My son loved the T-Rex restaurant.
I would recommend asking for the Ice Cave. It turns from blue to red during the meteor shower, which is pretty cool.
The food and decor while similar to the Rainforest (they are owned by the same people if I am not mistaken) is a lot nicer. I think your family will really enjoy it.

If you've got a RFC at home, there's no reason to go to T-Rex. It is the same food, only the decor is different.

The food is ok. The place is loud. My kids love it. I find it tolerable

If you're sensitive to headaches, I wouldn't recommend the ice cave. Everytime we are seated there I develop a headache from the lighting. I always request to sit in any other room.

We found the food @ T Rex to be very good especially the ribs. Is very loud but great atmosphere. I would avoid the ice cave, much noiser & hard to even carry on a conversation even while trying to eat.:lmao:

Which is better ? What is the actual theme of the room ?
jungle room
OR
underwater room

Does the underwater room make you feel like you are diving into the ocean ?

In the jungle room, is it more similar to RFC ?

this happened to my son as well

We went to do the build a dino here last year and still regret not eating there. The place is really nice inside and blows away our local rainforest cafe. Menu looks better, much cleaner more colorful and much grander. I am heading back in late Aug and both my ds12 and ds4 are excited to actually eat in the restaurant this time.
