Trend at Turtle Talk

:wave2: We've had the opposite experience. :headache: Our children are ALWAYS full of questions. We've experienced Turtle Talk with Crush twice. Our children were called on both times and had a question for Crush. Also, DH and I were roped into the banter. Crush wanted to speak with their "Parental Unit". The kids can't wait to go back! :dance3:

:yay: It really depends on the group that's in there with you. Same with Monsters, Inc. DH was "That Guy" once and DD5 was Boo. They played it up and had fun. I know when you first enter the room for TT w/Crush, the parents seem to head to the benches and the kids sit on the floor up front. Maybe, the CMs need to encourage parents to sit with their kids too? That would surely help with shy children and maybe help the show on along?

They won't let the parents sit up front. Or at least they didn't on our visits. DD would have loved that!

i've seen it atthe laughing floor sometimes too... it's cute tho, and those kids will probably always remember it!

My kid was one of "those kids." He was only 3, and when he saw all the other kids raise their hands, he thought that's what you're supposed to do, so he stuck his little hand up in the air. My little Dude didn't have a question, and he just sat there dumstruck when Crush called on him and the CM put the microphone in front of his face. But it turned out really well- Crush was ready for the non-response and re-assured DS3, "Don't worry little dude, I already forgot my answer, too!" The neat part is that DS3 left the theater so very proud of himself for having talked with Crush. It was the highlight of our trip! :lovestruc

I suppose if kid after kid after kid sits there without saying a word when Crush calls on them, then that could get kind of old. But I'd still think that the nature of the show puts the onus on Crush to turn that around and "swim" with it.

One of the best TT shows I went to was when an adult asked Crush "You seem to be really, really mellow. Are there any special "herbs" or "medicines" you take to mellow you out? Every adult in the room was laughing at that, but I think just about every kid in the room had a "huh?" expression on their faces! :rotfl:

This happened to my DD at laugh floor she had on her stitch ears and the camera went to her and the monster said oh no that monster is eating that child's head. Anyway, they tried to talk to her and she just answered with one word then he asked her a joke one she knew. I don't remember the joke but the punch line is because 7 ate 9. She has told me that joke herself but when the monster asked her she just said I don't know. I thought it was great she got in the show but afterwards I asked her why she didn't answer and she said mama I was so scared. She is normally a chatter box with everyone but I think that was just intimidating to her.

This year the kids at turtle talk were on fire. Last year was similar to your experience - all but one kid "forgot" their question. Crush was awesome, and kept the show rumbling by asking those kids funny questions instead. After a few of those, I suspect kids were simply putting up their hands and saying they forgot because they wanted Crush to ask them a question too, which was a little annoying I think when some kids looked as if they were DYING to ask Crush something, but as someone said - the show's really for the kids so as long as they were having a blast it was all good. :)

At one of the two Mute Kid Shows, Crush brought out a Buzz Lightyear doll to ask what it was. When they told him, he said, "Great! When Squirt asks, I can tell him I have a Buzz." :rotfl2:

It sounds like you didn't have a kid participating...sometimes all kids care about is that they were noticed and then everything leaves their little brains. It is often just as much fun for the audience to turn around and try and identify the little one's parents because between body language and prayers, you can see where "stage mothers and fathers" get their start!!! I agree with whoever said "priceless"!!!

My husband and I were Disney freaks and then we had kids. Seeing Disney through your kids eyes is like a whole other level. My 6 year old spoke with Crush last year and rewatching that video will never get old. Come over for dinner some time and we'll pull it out for you!!!!!!!!

Its kids! They get excited to participate and then get nervous when the spotlight is on them. Totally expect it with children. It does help if the kids have a question in advance, but it is tougher to prepare your children for something like Crush than it is for a character meet and greet where you know what will happen.

I think the show was meant for kids so if the kids forget or whatever oh well. Move on if it bugs you. I'm almost 100% positive my son will forget!

Yeah I agree with you both.

My 4 year old son asked Crush last week "Where is Cinderella's Castle?". Crush replied "I don't know, you tell me". My son said " At Disneyworld". Crush: "Where's that?". Son: "At Walt Disney". Then Crush asked "where are you from little dude?". Son: "From the hotel". Priceless!;)

Aww that is too cute.
