We've had the opposite experience.
Our children are ALWAYS full of questions. We've experienced Turtle Talk with Crush twice. Our children were called on both times and had a question for Crush. Also, DH and I were roped into the banter. Crush wanted to speak with their "Parental Unit". The kids can't wait to go back!
It really depends on the group that's in there with you. Same with Monsters, Inc. DH was "That Guy" once and DD5 was Boo. They played it up and had fun. I know when you first enter the room for TT w/Crush, the parents seem to head to the benches and the kids sit on the floor up front. Maybe, the CMs need to encourage parents to sit with their kids too? That would surely help with shy children and maybe help the show on along?
