We are starting to plan trips for 2010. We just became DVC member and my in-laws have been for about 2 years. We are planning on staying at the Treehouses when we go in March or April of 2010. Their home resort is SSR so they can book reservations 11 months in advance. Does anyone know how many treehouses there are? I know they have their own pool, but the main clubhouse is over at SSR. From what we were told there will be an internal bus that will travel between the Treehouses and SSR. Does that mean we need to take the internal bus over to SSR and then transportation over to the parks? At the time we will have 3 kids ages 2,3 and 6 so knowing things in advance will help. We're just trying to figure out if we should stay at a Treehouse or 2 BR at SSR.

There are 60 treehouse villas. I'd recommend booking at 11 months if you decide you want to try and get one. They cost the same as the hundreds of Two Bedroom villas at the resort so their small number may mean they are gobbled up quickly.

There will be a basic pool (no slide) near the treehouse villas.

Transportation will feature an internal bus system as you note. Hard telling how it will play out at this point. For some trips it's likely to be MORE convenient than merging all of SSR/THV into a massive 7-stop bus loop. For instance, if you are headed to one of the SSR restaurants or the main pool, you get direct service via the shuttle. But if you are headed to the parks you will have to switch buses.

About 1/3 of the THVs will be within reasonable walking distance of the Carriage House/pool/restaurants at SSR. I'd say 5-7 minutes on foot. But there's no way of knowing which building you will be in. Transportation will undoubtedly be best if you have your own car. We will when we stay in June and are really looking forward to it!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for mentioning that. I was just thinking about THV this morning...my DD called and wants all of us to stay there in 2010, but we own at AKV, and I was wondering about 7 month availability at THV. I'd be curious to know how availability actually pans out as time goes on.

We have our annual Sept trip and in 2010 would like to plan on getting a THV and bring many members of the family together. We own OKW and hope the newness is worn off by then and we can book. If not, we love OKW!

Seven months out may be tough, especially when you plan to go.

I don't own at SSR, but I'd rather get a one bedroom or two bedroom at SSR than the THV. Why? No king sized bed at the THV and that's a must for this family.
