Treehouses - Use the Bus or Car?

Hello,

Calling on those that have some info into the bus system from the treehouses. I'm wondering if travel times and waiting with shuttles etc. are not worth the hassle. I'm debating about flying down and using the disney transportion or driving and I think getting around Disney from the treehouses will be the make or break for which way I go.

I've used the bus system once before and had mixed results. I'm worried the added travel time from treehouses will make for some major grumbles.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

If we were to stay at the THV (which we won't because they don't have king beds and I hate to waste the points for just three of us), I'd use a car for every place but MK. Since you have to park at the TTC, then take the shuttle cart to the TTC, followed by a trip on the monorail or ferry, driving to MK is a pain. To get to the MK from THV via bus you'd have to take the THV bus to the Grandstand or walk to one of the bus stops and then get a bus to the MK.

The shuttles were running pretty consistently about every 10 minutes when we were there. So with actual travel time, figure staying at THV will add about 15 minutes to each trip when using buses.

You just need to decide if that 15 minutes is a deal-breaker for you. :)

You have a bus that takes you from THV to SSR where you need to switch and take another bus. I have one simple rule at Disney -- if I need to take two busses, I will always drive except possibly to MK. Recommend you do the same.

We stayed at the grandstand area of SSR (closest to THV) and more times than not there was a THV bus sitting & waiting for riders. I think they have 2 buses, so while one waited the other scoured the THV loop looking for those who need a ride.

That said, it might seem odd, but if I had the option I think I'd rather take my own car over to the grandstand and park it there (plenty of space, but I'm not sure security will allow this). I see no time savings with driving to the parks with the way they park you and you need to catch the trams to/from your vehicle (The way they direct you like aircraft, I was always wound up parked as far away from the stops as possible - hoofing it back to my car at the end of an exhausting park visit and then drive was the last thing I wanted to do ;) )

We stayed at the THV last month. We are drivers in WDW, we've been there, done that with the buses and we much prefer driving.

The THV shuttle was there going back and forth a ton, most of the time empty or with very few riders. If you're ok with using that, then go for it. :)

We'll be checking this out next summer with my brother and his family!!
