ok... we want to try the THV's next year when we go. it would basically be the only time we try to stay there because we are taking family down there. big question though is the pool. we like to spend a lot of time relaxing by the pool. by the looks of it, the THV's pool, isn't that spectacular. is the new SSR pool fairly close to where we can walk to it?

thanks in advance.

You wouldn't want to walk to that pool because of the distance, but you could. You'd basically need to take the trail from the tree houses, past the Grandstand pool, to the Carriage House, through or around the High Rocks Spring pool area to the Springs, then across the bridge to the Paddock. That's a long walk!

You've got several bus choices, though. The first would be to take the THV internal bus to the Springs, then walk across the bridge to the Paddock.

The second option would be to walk from the THV to the Grandstand bus stop, then catch any park bus, which will stop at the Paddock before leaving the resort.

Either one of these bus + walk options involve about 10-15 minutes of walking, which really isn't that bad in a Disney context. If you're not into the walking, you can wait at the Springs bus stop after getting off the THV shuttle, and catch the Downtown Disney bus. That's the only one that will stop at the Paddock after the Springs.

That said, the tree house pool isn't that bad. It's not very big, that's true. And the frog fountain doesn't do much to make it a "themed" pool. But it's still a nice spot for a relaxing swim. It was never very crowded when we were there.

Thanks Birds. Maybe we're going about it the wrong way, thinking, "Bigger is better"... but maybe not this time. A small quiet (not busy) pool might be what the doctor called for. Thanks! :thumbsup2

The quiet pool was always "quiet" when we were there. It's fun to have the frogs spew water on your head. :thumbsup2

You have lots of pool options at SSR, if you want a quiet pool THV's will work just fine, if you want a moderate pool you could go to grandstand, there is a water play area and a decent sized pool. Or you have the option of High Rock Springs near the restaurants/check in area. The new pool at Paddocks will also be an option, but as already mentioned it is further away from THV's and is really going in to help bridge the gap of Paddocks/Carousel being further away from the restaurants/themed pool.

You could spend several days just pool hopping at one resort when the new pool is done!:thumbsup2

It also depends on the ages of the kids, if there are any. Ours are all under 6 years old so the "main" pool by check-in with the zero-entry ramp is our favorite.
