Treehouse Villas Parking....

We'll be staying in a THV with another family in March and that's a good question. Wouldn't be happy to find out that only one of us could park there.

The odds are that some of us will be arriving by car and if it sleeps 9 people, they wouldn't fit in just one car!

I'm hoping too...

I believe the official answer is ONE parking place per villa, with any additional vehicles parked over at SSR. However, your success during any particular stay would probably depend on who is in the villa next door.

If your neighbors came in by air and took DME and are bussing everywhere, there might be an empty spot for your second vehicle. OTOH...if they brought 2 cars (or more), you might not have any spaces!

One parking space per Villa and some common overflow parking available on site.

We stayed in the THV last month. We only had our one vehicle. Our neighbors had two and sometimes they had them both parked there. The parking area for our two units had 3 spots in it. Sometimes there was someone else there, from a different set of units. So, we could park our vehicle, and our neighbors could park one of theirs (and we saw their other vehicle parked further down the road). Things worked out for us but I don't know if our neighbors two cars bothered anyone else...

It wouldn't be fair if someone couldn't park near their unit because another unit is taking up the spaces, don't you think? It's not like these areas of parking spots are one large lot next to one large building where it's first come, first served. I just feel bad to think of those who are booted out of "their" spots due to others taking up the spaces. They aren't assigned, but everyone knows who they "belong" to.

I heard that you park your second vehicle over by the Grandstand and either take the bus from the Grandstand over to the THV or walk.

I totally agree. If we were staying in a THV and had no where to park our car I would not be a happy camper. I would most likely notify someone at the resort that something needs to be done. I really am anticipating that this is going to become a really big issue one of these times. I am picturing guests yelling at one another over parking. Although I wouldn't yell at another guest, I would be totally POed if "my" spot was filled by another's car. Disney, namely DVC would be getting a very loud earful.

When they check guests into the THV, they need to include the statement on the documentation you get, plus tell the incoming guests that they only have one parking space at the THV per unit.

Are things set up where if you need to pull in to unload, you can do that and then easily move your vehicle to the Grandstands area? We'll have two vehicles (two family groups coming from two directions, arriving at different times on the same day) ...

I agree, it was a problem when they weren't DVC. For the number of people who can stay there, there is simply not enough parking and it can't be changed.

Even though Disney notifies guests, or even puts it in writing, we all know that some that come to Disney lose all sense of reason and some even lose the ability to read.

And hopefully the overflow from the THV are not parking in front of the Grandstand buildings blocking out those staying there but using the overflow further out.

We haven't stayed at THV yet, but I believe I read that they are doing that.

Two problems though:

1) Disney has a lot of rules, but they rarely enforce anything. And how would they enforce it except by towing vehicles? It's private property, so I don't believe law enforcement can write tickets in THV.

2) Too many guests have that "ME, ME, ME...it's all about ME!" attitude. Those folks will park 9 cars on top of each other if they can get them through the gate.

I'd be interested to see reports from THV guests. I suspect some cars will just be parked on the grass.

It's me & DH, DD, DSIL, DGD & DGS...We LOVE to plan and we are talking about renting a van vs. two cars, if the parking is going to be a really big problem. We don't want to be shuttling back & forth to a second car, if we can work out the logistics of just having one!!

Am I the only one that thinks having to park a second vehicle at the Grandstands stinks? :headache: If the villas holds 9 people you'd think they would have taken that into consideration when setting up the parking. Even couple of extra parking areas at each end of the THV complex would've been better than the Grandstands.

Yeah, it stinks, but it probably has to do with the Environmental Impact Statement that was required to renovate the tree houses.

Is anyone else for the spray painting of the villa number (large of course for those non-readers visiting) on your one parking space to assure that one of your vehicles has a guaranteed space?

Again I know enforcement might be a problem, but you'd think that those who care to disregard the rules would not have a leg to stand on if they were caught in a space designated for your vila.

Just a thought. We will be there in december, and our group will have three cars - one from VA, IN, and PA. And you can be sure that those in my group will not be using more than one space if that is what the rules state. I for one do not like to ruin anyone's experience.

That is why we are doing the research so that we can make a decision as to what vehicle we should rent!!:cool1:

It would be a nice idea to designate the spots, however one problem. Some of the parking spaces are SMALL, not large enough for more than a compact vehicle. So then you'll have people with large vehicles not being able to use their designated spot.

I think as long as people follow the rules then it's ok. I understand that those who have more than one vehicle may not like having to park at Grandstand, but it is what it is. I actually don't think Grandstand is that far away from the THV. But then I don't think SSR is ginormous either. lol

I think they will probably designate it on the parking pass. We will have 2 cars but only one will park at THV if that's the rule. Issue 3 parking passes but only one will say THV on it.
