We were finally able to get into the Treehouses for our upcoming trip this summer!! It's my wife and I's 15 year anniversary and we had 2 years of points to use so we splurged a bit since last years points had to be spent, and we were able to book a Treehouse for 7 nights!! It will be our 1st time staying there so she's very excited. We haven't told the kids yet, but they'll be excited when they find out as well. The other night my wife told our oldest DD to tell me what she told her, and she replied "I wish we could stay at those hat shaped rooms in the trees, but I know our home is Old Key"... Oh little does she know!! haha. They know we're going to go this summer, but don't really know the timing yet, we'll break it to them as the vacation paperwork comes in.

Should be a good time though, it's been 3 years since our last trip because we went to HHI in '12, and last year the funding just didn't allow for a Disney trip, but this year we're doing it!!! That's another nice thing about being a DVC owner, with the points that can "expire" it sort of forces you to make the time and budget to take those vacations as a family... :) The treehouses though should be a great way to spend our 15th anniversay trip!

So far we've book Be Our Guest for our anniversary dinner and the Fireworks Dessert Party for one night during our trip to celebrate. I'm a little surprised though that the MK is only open until 10pm during the heart of the summer? Has that been the case the last couple years? The last summer we were there I remember the MK being open to 12am with EMH until 3 am some nights? This trip it's only open until 10p with EMH until 12a? Just cursious...

Anyway, just wanted to share the excitement of our 1st trip back to WDW for a couple years now... It's so exciting to see that countdown again!! It's still 170ish days away, but still just knowing it's coming!! :D

Congrats on getting a Tree House, we just came back from a 7 day stay over the New Years week and really liked it. We are campers also so it felt like we were camping, we drove so we had our car I do not think I would like it there without a car as said before about the extra bus or walk you need to take to get any where.
Everything there was very nice plus the resort is much quieter then others, if you like to use the themed pool or resort amenities this is not a place to stay. We were right off a tee for the golf course so we would watch them tee off while enjoying our morning coffee on the deck.
Have a great time, we will be there over the 4th of July but at the Fort in our 5th wheel

With 6 of us we haven't been able to fly down for some time!! haha... Cost far outweighs convenience for us... Plane tickets for all of us are 2/3 of the cost of our park tickets so we make the 16 hour haul whenever we head down. A point about what you mentioned about using the resort main pool and amenities, surprisingly we don't get a lot of pool time in... Since we usually only get 1, MAYBE 2 trips in a year sometimes, we spend a lot of the daylight hours in the parks... Hard to pull ourselves away from the hustle and bustle sometimes to get some pool time. I've heard the SSR pool is pretty decent though for kids though so maybe we'll try and break away for an afternoon swim or maybe on AK day. We are usually out of AK by 4-5pm so maybe we'll grab a light dinner and do some swimming. As for the buses we usually only bus to Magic Kingdom because it's nice to get dropped off right at the door, the rest of the parks we find we can usually get there as fast, or faster than the buses... Sometimes it is nice though to be lazy and just ride the bus, I like hearing the speils when you get to the parks... :) I'm a sucker for Disney audio... ;) But having to walk or bus to SSR and then bus from there I think we'll definitely only do that for MK.

We thought about trying to bring the inlaws down with us when it said it sleeps 9, but after checking out the room layout to sleep those 9 I don't know if we'll invite them along or not... You lose the living room to sleep those additional 3 people. Last time they came with us we had an OKW 2 BR, with the 2 queens we just had to use the sleeper sofa for the boys, but we still had the love seat and chair to hangout at. So we might just keep this to our family, but we'll see... DW is very excited as will be the kids once they find out so I guess that's what it's really about... :)

My 2 kids and I stayed in a Treehouse last August - we were spoiled and each had our own room. I think you are wise to not invite the in-laws; you will enjoy the space for your immediate family. We certainly did.

I highly recommend requesting a Treehouse close to the Grandstand pathway. We ended up in 7032, I believe. Great location - right by the path and about halfway between the boat dock and the pool. And right behind a bus stop as well. Of course there are no guarantees, but location-wise, this is as good as it gets!

Congratulations on your reservation - I can assure you, it's well worth the splurge! Hope you have a wonderful time!

I concur with quirty30's recommendation. Request a location near the pool or the Grandstand walkway. Easy access to the Carriage House and its an easy option to walk to the Grand Stand bus stop or take the ferry to DD.

We love the Tree House Villas. We've stayed there three times and love it each time!

Congrats! Our friends stayed in THV last weekend for the first time and loved it! They did wish they had a car to make it easier and avoid an extra bus stop, but ended up walking to the Grandstand bus (about 10 min) most of the time. Like others have said, if you can request one close to the path, that would help!

Hi! The Treehouses are wonderful! Have a great anniversary trip! Congratulations!

Quirty,

Thanks for the room number... I'll be sure to put in a request for this type location at our 10 day mark... Being close to the walkway seems like the spot to be. Does the walkway put you close to the theme pool at SSR at the other end?? Not that we'd make it there, but staying mostly at OKW, SSR will be new to us as well. The bus stop you mentioned in this area just takes you from THV to SSR right, it doesn't actually take you to a park? As I said I do like to be lazy and listen to the Disney bus audio arriving at the parks, but having to bus hop will really push towards just driving.

Thanks for all the support and reassurance that we'll have a good time. I sort of wanted to do a split stay with OKW to save some points, but i think that can be a hinderance to the vacation over the points savings...

We stayed in a THV in August, LOVED them! It was definitely "glamping" for us :)

As others have said bringing the in laws you loose the extra living space, I am a early riser so that's important to me , but with a nice deck you could always be outside with good weather. Just make sure you have a MB or room key to get back in, we just put the privacy latch out to keep the door a jar.

I'm not an early riser usually, but i'm the opposite. I like to stay up and watch the Top 7 Loop, or the Daily Planner channel to keep up on what might be happening during our trip. It is fun to have them along with us, but definitely not as spreadout as a regular OKW 2 bedroom.

There are 4 TV's in the Tree Houses 1 in every bedroom and the main one in the living area. So I am sure you could find somewhere to watch what you want.

I hope you enjoy it! That's where they assigned our points, so we "own" a piece of the Treehouses. We'll probably never stay there with as few points as we have, so I'm eager to hear all about it!

i know it is almost 10 points or more than our home at OKW, but for our 15th and having a years worth of banked points we figured, "What the Heck"... :) However might not have enough points for a NYE trip though, but we'll figure that out later... ;)

Sorry I haven't been on the boards for a while. Yes, the Treehouse buses only take you to SSR where you can board the buses to the parks. A bit of a cumbersome process...we had a car and didn't end up using the buses at all. A first for us. I thought I'd only use the car to grocery shop, but once we took it the parks, we were spoiled. Such a time saver.

As for the walkway, it takes you to the Grandstand; as I recall the pool there has a nice splash area for the kids. It's not that much further to walk to the Carriage House and High Rock Springs Pool - or you could hop on the boat to get there (a nice leisurely ride over - that would probably be my preference to walking.)

We've done split stays before - but we spent 8 nights at the Treehouses and enjoyed every minute of it. It was so nice not packing up in the middle of the trip to move. It was also not a "park-centric" trip for us - we went to MK, Epcot and both waterparks on 4 separate days. And we spent the rest of the time relaxing at the Treehouses. And look forward to doing it again sometime. When we at our Treehouse we felt so far removed from the madness of the parks...will definitely do it again one day, despite the point cost. I know you will be happy with your decision! Have a great time.
