tree nut free dessert for Thanksgiving

Pumpkin pie is usually pretty safe, especially if homemade. You run into potential cross contamination with store bought, but that’s true of pretty much all desserts. i sometimes go crustless and just make the pumpkin pie filling like a custard.

Pumpkin breads and cakes are also pretty easy and you just omit the nuts if the recipe calls for them. Bourbon glaze or cream cheese buttercream is a pretty easy topping.

Having raised a peanut/treenut allergic kid--it's easy! The usual pies are safe, although homemade pie is not easy.

Honestly, for Thanksgiving, someone will always be grateful if you brought a plate of brownies or even some good cupcakes. Just ensure that all your ingredients don't have the "may contain...." statement and you're good to go.

a pie is not out of the realm of possibilies but I'm thinking something that can be portioned fairly small. We are having a contest so everyone will need to taste everything. After a big meal.

What desert were you thinking of? My house has basically been peanut and tree nut free for 15 years, and I don't know that I can think of anything that you can't make nut free? We don't notice the difference. (The exception would be if you literally just want to take a bag of nuts somewhere, But even then you could just roast some chickpeas with the same seasonings)

Maybe if you comment about what kind of desserts you want people will have ideas of how to modify them.

like I said above, the goal is for everyone to try everything since it's a contest. So something that can me portioned relatively small. Preferably something I can make Wednesday

Delicious, easy and unusual, though you might need to turn to the internet for gelatin sheets.
Chai panna cotta
2 gelatin sheets
2 cups heavy cream
½ cup sugar
3 bay leaves
1/2 tsp cardamom
1 tsp lightly crushed black peppercorns
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
2 tbsp black tea leaves
2 tbsp earl grey tea leaves

Soak gelatin sheets in water until they rehydrate (15 mins). Wring water out and put aside. Bring cream, sugar and spices to a boil - remove and place tea leaves in mix. Steep and then strain.

Add ½ cup infusion to gelatin sheets, mix and replace in bowl with the rest of the infusion. Put into cups and chill until set, probably overnight.

Might try this, but not for Thanksgiving. Three kids under 7 years old

Simple fudge recipe: 1 can condensed milk, 12oz package of chocolate chips,1T butter.

Melt the milk and chocolate together in a microwave, about 3 minutes. Add butter by stirring. Pour and spread into a lightly buttered 9x13 or a 9x13 lined with wax or parchment paper.

Refrigerate for 1 hour or let sit overnight. If paper was used, flip it out of the pan and remove paper. If not, don’t.

Cut into 1/2 in cubes and serve.

I like the one in the back of the chocolate chip bag - similar to above but includes melting marshmellows.

Apple crisp. Or apple cranberry crisp.

You could make the day before, but it's going to be better made the day of. You could probably prepare the crumble topping, refrigerate that, and then the day of, just slice the apples up, add the topping, and bake.

It is a layered dish.

A can of chocolate frosting/icing is melted and poured over the top

Make the above, but crush the graham crackers, and layer it in mini cupcake papers?
